We had the good fortune of connecting with Seth & Crystal Wells and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Seth & Crystal, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We have always had a love for interior design. Throughout our life, whether at home or incorporated into our previous successful business ventures, design has always played an instrumental role. Even when we were dating we use to walk through open houses for fun to see how the homes were designed and staged. We would talk about what we loved, didn’t love, and we’d imagine what our ideal design would look like for the property. After Seth sold his last company, we wanted to do something together as a husband and wife team. For years we have had friends and family encouraging us to start an interior design company since they were always asking for design advice for their own homes. So we took the plunge and started first as home stagers and have slowly grown into the interior design world. We have done a number of projects from kid’s rooms, home offices, to entire homes.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We both came from different career paths before building Cassia and Cadence. Crystal spent many years as a project manager for a local agency and movie studio, while Seth built a retail co-op business that he successfully sold in 2021. Crystal’s time working in a fast-paced, creative environment has taught her a lot about working with clients and how to keep projects moving forward in a smooth and efficient way. Learning how to work with a large team of creatives can have its challenges and she has been able to see firsthand how powerful, yet complex, implementing technology into office and staff organization can be. Because Seth has built a brand from the ground up, he knows how tough it can be and how important it is to work hard toward your goals. He spent a lot of time developing the story and voice of his brand in order to bring it to life and give people something that they can connect with. When it comes to design, one of our biggest challenges was taking ALL of our design and branding experiences from across industries and melding them together to create an impactful, clean design that tells the story our clients want to convey. Our approach to design and working with clients is unique because we know how to utilize our client’s wants and needs, and prioritize them in the process. Another thing that sets us apart is that we are a husband and wife team. We know that each of us brings a different strength to this company and we add different ideas and approaches to the same project. We have had so many people ask us how we are able to work together day in and day out. We think it is the BEST!! We each bring new and fresh ideas to the table and are able to allow the other to express their creativity. Crystal is the life of the party and always has a way of making things fun and exciting, and Seth is the best problem solver out there. So we know that together we can overcome anything.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Arizona has so many amazing experiences to offer!! We would probably start off by spending a day in Scottsdale walking around Old Town, shopping and getting to see the hustle and bustle of one of our favorite spots. Maybe start the day grabbing coffee at Four till Four or Sips and of course, we would have to eat at Diego Pops!! We would enjoy some margaritas and order their unique nachos. It wouldn’t be a day in Old Town without grabbing a shake from Shakes and Cones as well. Then we would take them to explore the beautiful scenery of Sedona. There are so many amazing hiking options like Cathedral Rock or West Fork Trail. The things to do in Sedona are endless and every time we go we always leave with a list of sites that we want to explore for the next trip. Our family is really big on wakeboarding and wake surfing so we would definitely have to take our friend out on the lake and spend the day getting our adrenaline rush. Some of our best times have been wrapping up a full day on the lake and relaxing under the stars at night. We love to center our trips around food so taking people to the many one-of-a-kind options in the various downtown cities is a must. You have Hidden House and Black Sheep in Chandler, Cider Corps (w/ Mike’s Pizza) and Worth Takeaway in Mesa, and OHSOs and Liberty Market in Gilbert, just to name a few!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Within our community of friends we have had people support us by taking a chance on us when our professional portfolio was still being developed. One of our closest friends Davi-anne invited us to redesign her son’s room. The space had a unique set of challenges because of its small size, but extensive list of elements that needed to be accounted for (drums, gamer desk, sleeper sofa, bed, etc…). Because of this project and the success we had, we were able to acquire several new clients immediately after. Brett Kalina is another close friend and previous business partner who has greatly supported the growth of both our staging and design business. His longtime real estate presence and newly established development company called Towne Development has given us amazing opportunities to showcase our design skills. The trust each of these people have in who we are and what we are capable of has been invaluable to the launch of our newly formed interior design and staging company.
