We had the good fortune of connecting with Shana Velazquez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shana, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Quality. My success is based on fantastic customer service, thorough consultations, clear expectations on the services/products guests will receive and a strong delivery. Every client is important. Word of mouth is still extremely important marketing to focus on when building a business. You want to create raving fans that can spread the word. To do this you have to follow through on what you’re offering.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
People often ask why my salon is named Hello Salon. The answer is I wanted my clients to have a pleasant experience from seeing our name to our cozy decor and authentic client experience with one of my stylists. We pride ourselves on our color services and our reviews say it all. I’m so excited that my vision has come to life. It hasn’t been easy. I opened a month before the pandemic hit, but I just made sure to adapt to our new circumstances and tried to create a safe and clean environment that my team could be comfortable enough in to continue delivering stellar services. I learned you can’t please them all. Have your business vision always in the back of your mind as a reminder when you’re tested. I want everyone to know that we truly care about everyone that walks in our door. My team takes great pride in their craft. I’m so proud of them. We’re not a corporate environment. You’re not just a number when you walk in our door. We care.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I eat at Dos Gordos in Laveen, AZ at least 3 times a week. I always take visitors to the top of South Mountain at sunrise or sunset. I’m into the outdoors so I would rent a fishing boat and take them out on Canyon Lake for the day. I like to take people to my favorite swim hole spot in Camp Verde. My kids enjoy Froyoholic near Laveen and the patio at Tbones Steak House is a great option for a sunset beer.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m grateful for the support of my community Laveen, Arizona. Since day one I’ve received amazing support, advice and recommendations.
