We had the good fortune of connecting with Shannan Kinsey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shannan, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is patience and perseverance. You go thru many ups and downs as a small business owner and many times I’ve wanted to give up. But thru being patient and expanding my knowledge and services it helps me to keep going.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am an esthetician and I provide many different services. I also started my own skin care line. The more I can learn, the more I can grow. It was definitely not easy. When I first started I didn’t know anyone who had a studio. I was going in blind and trying to figure it out. I learned by trial and error. When I moved in my 2nd and current home suite I was able to meet so many other women to learn from. At that point several girls I’d previously worked with started their own business and seeing them thrive was also inspiring. I want anyone to know that when you truly believe in yourself you can make things happen. Even when your at your lowest point, never give up on yourself.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shout out to my dad and mom, Joanna, Felicia, Erica, Chris and ALL of my clients. I have many clients who have followed me for years before i opened my business. They’ve given me hope, support and encouragement and without any of them I wouldn’t be where I am without all those people in my corner. It definitely takes a village. There are many people over the years who I have been fortunate enough to have had support me.
