We had the good fortune of connecting with Aidan Neal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aidan, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Sounds cliche but I wholly believe without risk there is no reward. The very best this world has to offer has always been reserved for those willing to push themselves beyond their comfort zones.

I do however behave in mitigating risk. Ie. Being sensible about the choices we make. It’s smart and Hella risky to jump. It’s foolish however, to jump from 100ft without a Parachute.

More than taking risks, my perseverance in some areas to continuously try despite my lack of comfort has lead to be achieving and holding on to a lot. Risk got be to my accomplishments, while perseverance has allowed me to continue to reap the benefits from those risks.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well I am a travel nurse but even while studying to be a nurse I minored in journalism. I love being a writing creative and reaching and moving people in positive ways with my words.

Some lessons I’ve learned along the way is absolutely no one, including yourself knows if, how and when things will materialize how you want them to. It’s almost dismissive to hear people say, trust the process, but you can trust, lean into and find joy in what you know and have now. Wish you had a million followers? Forget about the goal and pour yourself into enjoying the 100 people who think that what you have to say is worth hearing. Imagine 100 people in a room with u at a podium. That’s a lot!

I’ve also learned to be okay with breaks. It’s something you get very comfortable with when you stop rushing yourself and start believing in the inevitability of your goals. When you really believe nothing you do can stop you from having what is yours you’ll put a lot less pressure on yourself.

What I want the world to know is I’m trying. Everyday I am trying and sometimes to do my best means not doing very much towards my material goals but I am always available to help. I thrive and feel best about myself and my life when my time and efforts are used to make someone feel good.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well I’m a nomad and an excellent trip planner. I have tons of itineraries for every city I’ve visited or lived in. Right now I am in San Francisco, fresh from a return from Miami just yesterday and Denver the week before. But let’s go with a week in San Fran.

I do like to find out what people like best and how wide their budget stretches but I’m gonna go with great free to low cost things to do for a week in San Fran.

In no particular order:
A day trip to Capitola, Santa Cruz is a must for me with the cutest dinner at Shadowbrook restaurant

My fave picnic spots are also free to enter and beautiful on their own so spend a day palace of the fine arts, Alamo square and John McLaren park.

Lovers Lane presidio is a beautiful and quiet spot to enjoy a coffee and pastry

The best place to see the Golden gate Bridge for me is fort point

The vibrant rainbow centric township of Castro has some of the best bars and eats for a casual and safe night out

Bereta has great Italian bites and drinks and canela for tapas but the list is long

And ofcourse wine country. You could do a tour but if you have a solid designated driver I could give a solid list in either county of some of the best and most beautiful.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am so starved for mentorship and hope to occupy a space that provides that guidance some day. For now, as I stumble through it all, I have to share appreciation for my life partner Neil Buckle for pushing and believing me when I often lose belief in myself or my dreams.
