We had the good fortune of connecting with Mesia Rena and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mesia, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking is basically what you do as an entrepreneur. We’re taking risks by starting our business from scratch not knowing if it will fail or succeed. Risk taking is apart of my everyday life as a full time entrepreneur. If it’s deciding on new products, machines, investments for the business I’m taking risks hoping for a positive outcome.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Ibeauty Wellness & Beauty Shaping is a weight loss medspa offering non-surgical body sculpting and weight loss management. We basically have a machine that uses ultrasonic cavitation to breakdown your stored fat cells, and with an increase water intake, light exercising, and a healthy diet our clients lose inches INSTANTLY and see results INSTANTLY. There is no pain, no surgery, no downtime, and you can lose up to 4inches per Treatment. What sets us apart from others is our clients are treated like our family. We cheer them on on their weight loss journey, and make them feel comfortable at all times. With us they’re more than just a $ sign. We care and want to help you reach whatever goal you’re set out to accomplish.
I’m proud of the growth of my business.
We opened in November of 2019 right before the pandemic shutdown with only 10 clients and I personally didn’t know anyone here in Phoenix area because just moved from Alabama, but I stepped out on faith and took a chance. Our first month open made less than $2000 and I started to question my decision if it was the right choice. But then a light bulb went off and I printed up some flyers and said who could benefit the most from our services? Mothers especially new moms like myself ( I had just given birth to our rainbow baby three months before opening) so I strapped my son around me and went to different parks, zoos, and museum etc passed out flyers and talked to different women about what we had to offer and by that February my calendar was booked til April. The shutdown was a challenge for us since we offered in person service for 80% off the business so I had to think quick on how to survive til we were able to reopen. So I became more active on social media promoting our retail products and explaining how you can still maintain healthy weight loss journey during quarantine and how to keep the extra weight off.. That proved to work and allowed us to gain new clients once we reopened and we had to move to a larger location to accommodate the increase. We’re now located in a shopping plaza. And never in my wildest dreams I would have imagined going from a small suite with 10 clients less than two years ago to know servicing hundreds of clients located in a shopping plaza and surviving through a pandemic shutdown and still come out on top.
It was definitely hard and discouraging at times but I had to adapt and think quickly. If you’re thinking about chasing your dreams my advice is Just Do It like Nike! I started from scratch with nothing but the will to not give up when everything in front of me said to do just that. I had to adapt to what was thrown in front of me and survive. I call it thriving and surviving.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love to eat! Some of my favorite places here are Breakfast B*#tch, Snooze AM Eatery & BJ’s. And going to Tempe town lake it’s so much to do there from kayaking and boat paddling
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes, I would like to dedicate this shout-out to my husband Archie. He has been my biggest supporter, therapist, second brain, during my entrepreneur journey.
