We had the good fortune of connecting with Shannon Broderick and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shannon, can you talk us a bit about why you love what you do?
I love what I do because it makes an impact. It not only makes peoples day, seeing their dogs gobble up my treats but it also gives people to opportunity to join in on the mission statement for Dogs Eating Cake. My mission has always been to be able to creative a fun platform to connect, educate and inspire the community through serving dogs in need. The best part about it is being able to meet and connect with so many different people (and dogs) in the community who share the same love for dogs as I do! It an amazing community to be a part of.

From day one, Dogs Eating Cake has always had a mission to educate connect and inspire the community through serving dogs in need. Dogs Eating Cake sponsors tons of local adoption + fundraising events, even hosting of few of their own! Check them out on www.dogseatingcake.com or instagram and facebook @dogseatingcake! The journey of starting any business from ground zero is NEVER easy! It’s like jumping into a pool when you are not quite sure how to swim. There was a ton of learning through the process, even experiencing some bullying along the way! But the biggest thing to remember is that making connections with the people in your industry and community is so important-connection, not competition! I am friends with many other dog treat and dog related businesses that I absolutely adore and exchange ideas with. Just remember anyone can imitate a product, but they cant imitate care, love and service you contribute into crafting each one and putting it into the hands of another.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I absolutely love checking out the local farmers & art markets! Grabbing a warm locally roasted coffee & breakfast burrito to munch on while checking out the amazing local crafts produce & products. They are all so amazing. I would recommend Made with Love Market in downtown Gilbert as one of my favorites!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank ALL the rescues and small businesses who believed in my concept and let me help them raise awareness and thrive as a team. That includes but is not limited to Halo Animal Rescue, Angels for Paws Animal Rescue, HopeRose Project & Rescue, Lexy Komichak from North & Co., Camp Bow Wow Dobson Ranch, Phoenix, and Scottsdale North locations, Doggie District Peoria, Paradise Valley locations, Made with Love Market, Ahwatukee Farmers Market, Red Mountain Farmers Market, Aloha Yogurt, Dog Candle Co. & I can name so many more!!
