We had the good fortune of connecting with Shaun Palmer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shaun, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
The Doc Doc Goose brand was created to make information and insight into medical topics accessible to anyone, regardless of level of education. One of the distinguishing characteristics of a good healthcare provider is their ability to communicate with people who don’t have their level of education and expertise, getting the patient to understand a complex issue so they are better equipped to help do whatever is necessary to participate in their own health. Without people being active participants in their own health, the chances are slim that they will make the necessary changes to stay healthy or return to health. If people are healthier, they are better able to thrive in society.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Over my career I’ve learned the value of reputation and networking. I’ve learned that there is no easy or predictable path for what is around the corner. An unexpected event can take everything away from you in an instance and an unexpected opportunity from someone who has silently watched you and knows your reputation can lead to amazing new opportunities if you’re open to watching for them to come up. The hard part is working hard to do your best by others in all circumstances and building a good reputation. It doesn’t happen over night. It takes time and consistency. Then the opportunities come. My business partner and I have worked hard to build good reputations and now with the podcast we have people willing and excited to help us expand our reach. The biggest challenge for us now is getting enough time to actively push our podcast out to the public as our real careers take much more time and energy before we can concentrate on this endeavor.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Phoenix is such a great place to live. Hopefully they are golfers, though, because there’s no end to the courses we can play here. Otherwise Phoenix has such a variety of entertainment and good food. I’m a big fan of the Odysea Aquarium, Top Golf, and walking around Scottsdale Quarter, Kierland, or Desert Ridge, enjoying their great restaurants too.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents deserve the credit for any positive contribution I make to the world. They worked with me tirelessly to make sure that I got the best education and never settled for less than my best work. They taught me the value of integrity and work ethic. They did whatever work was necessary to give me the opportunities to learn, grow, and succeed.
