We had the good fortune of connecting with Sherri Stryker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sherri, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My husband Dave and I had been live-in managers of Senior Retirement Communities for the last 10-12 yrs. The last 2 years during COVID-19 wasn’t the easiest of jobs.
When we were presented the chance to move back to our home in Arizona, we jumped at it.
One thing I learned from my Senior residents was to go for it. I needed to concentrate on what would make me feel again.
So when the opportunity to open my own business landed in front of me, I had to go for it.
Travel isn’t going anywhere. We’ve learned if you lock people up for any length of time, our first instinct is to travel someplace- anyplace

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
StrykerTravels2 is a business that came from the ashes of burnout during COVID-19. Being on the front line living with our senior population was difficult to say the least. The amount of precautions out of the abundance of caution. Didn’t stop death from happening, and not from covid. Our senior population have been my teachers and mentors. The people who created our history. They were willing to take risks in their careers for happiness and success. Hard work, persistence and honesty are the tools I carry with me.
The world will keep turning and people will keep traveling. Now I get to help people make lasting memories.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A week long visit always starts with a trip to Day 1 Wild Thiager for the best Thai food.(DDD location) after lunch a trip to the Japanese Friendship Garden and the Heard Museum.

Day 2. Since I’m on the Westside a day at Westgate for shopping and food. Lots of options. Tanger Outlets.. My favorite is Haus Murphy, the Yard House or The Carousel Arcade Bar. We’ll catch A Cardinals game at State Farm Stadium or a concert at Gila River.

Day3 I would have to spend a day in the Estrella Mountain Ranch. Walking the lakes, and taking a paddle boat out. Stop for lunch at one of the Residents Clubs. Happy hour at the Golf Course on the patio, listening to live music.

Day 4 a trip to Tempe for Town Lake. Lots of different activities to choose from. Grab a bite aND shopping at Tempe Marketplace.

Day 5 a trip to Scottsdale for the day. The Phoenix Zoo, The Botanical Gardens or Scottsdale Fashion Squares finish the day at Talking Stick Resort.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband Dave, is and always has been my rock. It is with Dave’s love, respect, encouragement, support & mentorship, that I am able to take a leap of faith and start my own Business.
