We had the good fortune of connecting with Sherry Shahriari and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sherry, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I grew up in Iran/Tehran. I moved to the United States when I was 22 years old. Living and growing up in a different culture was a wonderful experience. My father attended graduate school in 1970s in the United States. He was a businessman and entrepreneur in Iran, and I grew up watching his example and amazing work ethic. I followed my father’s lead and obtained an MBA in United States in 2004. I immediately knew that I wanted to be in business for myself and created a retail business specializing in Italian designer shoes and handbags which I had for 13 years. I started my social media platforms within this retail business. In 2019 we closed the retail business and I converted those social platforms into my personal blog about lifestyle, home décor, fashion and travel.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
3- As a content creator in several niche areas such as lifestyle, travel, fashion and home décor, I have to maintain my focus within each niche. I have been told by other people/social media content creators that I should narrow my focus and “niche down”. However, I have been able to achieve some success in each of these niche/areas and I truly LOVE them all! Matt has been a key driver in helping me to stay focused.

What sets me apart from others is I am driven to provide the best possible content to the companies that have entrusted me to collaborate and represent their brand. I feel that my perfectionist personality type has been very beneficial in over-delivering quality content for several companies/brands.

I have educated myself in areas that I had little knowledge such as SEO, affiliate marketing, photo editing, video production and growing my social media platforms. I also have utilized professionals such as web designers/web host, Facebook groups and so much more.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My BIGGEST supporter, from day one, has been my wonderful husband, Matt. He has supported me throughout my Italian retail business, and from the early days of my social media platforms. Retail business as well as starting social media platforms can be very stressful and often make you question whether or not you want to keep going. Matt was always in my corner encouraging me to keep moving forward and pointing out all of my small successes. He really helped me keep my eye on the bigger picture! Although photography is not his primary profession, he has taken the time to educate himself on photography techniques to help me present the best pictures for my platforms. He has a very good eye for how to frame a good picture. He has also helped me with other aspects of my social media/blogging business. I would certainly NOT be where I am today, without having such an incredible and supportive husband like, Matt!
