We had the good fortune of connecting with Sladjana Ahmetovic and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sladjana, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I came to America when I was 8, and grew up in Atlanta. Being the youngest of 5, I started working at 15. Through my work history I have managed other small businesses, so I had a good idea of what it took to run a business. In 2020 during the middle of the pandemic, like most people I was stuck at home. Under quarantine, I found creative ways to spend my time. With Arizona going recreational, I was intrigued in all aspects of the cannabis plant. Since I already enjoyed cannabis and painting, I started sharing my idea with friends and family. My thought process was just to create a space for like minded individuals to create and come together. My passion for both cannabis and painting triggered me to start what is known as Pretty Dope Paintings. I host art classes similar to the sip and paint concept, with a twist! I knew finding a balance between what you love and being able to earn an income from that is a true blessing! I didn’t want to do anything that didn’t move my soul.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Pretty Dope Paintings is a mobile art studio that hosts guided art classes. We cater to small groups of about 20-30 and we also host private events. Monthly we host a recreational art class, which allows the participants to bring their own bud and add a little herbal art therapy to their canvas. The concept of what we paint changes based on the art class. You do not need to be an artist to participate, since my class is guided. You just have to know how to follow instructions 😂. The venue changes based on the event, but typically they are between Phoenix-Mesa area. Through my mobile events, you provide the venue and invite your group of friends/family, and select what concept your group wants to be guided on. I bring the studio to you!
Open art classes are hosted every second Saturday of the month in Mesa and are open to anyone that reserved a spot. Seating is limited, so you do have to reserve in advance. The classes are pretty personal since they do not exceed 30 people.
I’m so blessed to work with the people I work with, and to all the participants and artists that continue to create with me! You are what keeps me inspired and you are my motivation. Art is therapy! We welcome all skill levels and all walks of life! If you are in the Phoenix area come create with us! 🎨

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shout out all the locals that have worked with me to continue to make these classes happen. From the venues, to the vendors to the attendees! Special Thanks to Peach44Creations, Flight 420, JukeBox Fam, Adrian Garcia Awer, and Rama & Cyd! Most of all I would be nothing without my son Denis and God. 🙏🏼
