We had the good fortune of connecting with Somone “Monie” Wilder and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Somone “Monie”, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
I help people improve their lives through home ownership. When I first became a REALTOR my primary client base was first time buyers, most of which are the first to own homes in their families for generations. These buyers have very low experience with how to manage money, keep their credit up, and save for a down payment therefore I take a lot of time educating and helping my clients execute plans to position themselves as successful buyers. One of my favorite parts of my job is to help my clients see a bigger picture when deciding what and when to purchase – helping them see that if they do this correctly they can build life-changing wealth for themselves and their families. My aim is to rewrite stories of generational poverty through the facilitation of purchases and sales. The changes I see my clients make after purchasing are so incredibly inspiring and holistic. Successfully purchasing when no one else in their family has, owning something that can grow wealth for them, managing a budget for the first time, and having pride in ownership changes people on a DNA level.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a REALTOR servicing primarily Maricopa County, AZ. Being a REALTOR is my favorite thing because I have the ability to change lives and create lasting relationships with people. There are a few things that set me apart but I would say that my clients gravitate towards me because I am zero bullshit. I believe people are best served with honesty and when it comes to making big decisions (like purchasing or selling a home) I stay committed to telling my clients exactly how it is so that we can be most successful. I take time to understand my clients’ overall long term goals and create multi property strategies with them to get them there. The part of my job I get most excited about is seeing someone reach their financial goals or their “living their best life goals” with a property I helped them purchase. I also live for difficult negotiations, I love to create win-win scenarios with cross agents so that everyone involved walks away feeling like “wow that was a GREAT deal” – this is an art I am still honing and I feel the better I become at this the better my clients are served all around. A lesson I have learned in this profession is that relationships are everything. Most people are wonderful to deal with when treated with respect and told the truth. It’s amazing how much you can achieve in life just by doing those two things on a consistent basis.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Phoenix, AZ cannot be beat when it comes to great places to eat, have cocktails, and chill. I live in North Central Phoenix, the heart of the city just north of downtown so the options for us would be endless. Our day would start with a run on Murphy’s Bridle Path (https://greatruns.com/murphys-bridle-path/), we would have breakfast at Elly’s (pancakes are the bomb), since I’m a REALTOR we could ride our bikes to view some of the beautiful homes in North Central Phoenix next. Think tree lined streets, beautiful weather, old school front porches on red brick homes with tire swing – gorgeous! We can hit up Changing Hands Bookstore and have some coffees and then get pizza, chicken, and cocktails at Doughbird in Arcadia (also part of Phoenix but they like to have their own name so we let them). Lots of sunshine, great food and activities in Phoenix – I’m a native and I am still not over it yet.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I was blessed to be raised in a family that never limited my potential – thanks Dad, Mom, and Lacie for always having my back and for never expecting me to stay in any particular box. My husband, Jovan, you are my greatest supporter and are the one who gave me the courage to leave the security of my career prior to real estate to become an entrepreneur. Thank you Mely & Melina for giving me that ability to focus on my career everyday knowing that my babies are taken care of and loved. Russell Shaw thank you for being my go-to with how to structure my business, how to focus on the fundamentals, and for making me laugh literally every single day. Heidi Zebro thank you for genuinely loving me and for always giving me opportunities. I love you guys, thank you for everything.
