We had the good fortune of connecting with Stacie Shepard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stacie, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
We started as a dog walking and training business- as we began to grow and become more well known in our community, we started getting requests to bring our best trained dogs to places like teen group homes, senior living facilities, scouting events, etc. We decided to make it official be starting a 501c(3) nonprofit foundation so we could expand on the concept and meet the needs of more groups.

Our packs of bonded therapy dogs make a huge impact on the groups we serve- mental health support and education are at the center of our vision- we now have a facility where we can bring groups to us for volunteering, internships, work study and more.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We are 3 things- a family, a business, and a nonprofit organization- all 3 work together for positive change by tapping into the POWER OF THE PACK – if a pack is a family then a family is a pack- each one of us contributes something unique and valuable-

Starting the business during covid was tough and slow going- our family learned about togetherness and cooperation- the nonprofit is the labor of love that grew out of the business- its been very difficult to find the right partnerships and support for our efforts but we have a deep belief that dogs can work miracles for those in need of comfort and compassion.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We also have a home in Huntington Beach- we enjoy taking our dogs to the Dog beach and onto Main Street

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shout out to The Good Shepards, Inc- our walking and training business and to the Shepard Family, Isabella, Antonio, Lorenzo and Francesca, who all work together to spread awareness and promote the healing powers of the canine/human connection.
