We had the good fortune of connecting with Steph Roach and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Steph, what do you attribute your success to?
Authenticity. People are drawn to relatability and when you are unapologetically yourself especially as someone representing the disability community because it’s not very often you see that in mainstream media.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My life’s career path has certainly been unconventional. Being born with Cerebral Palsy I am certain that NO ONE thought the life I am leading now would have been possible. I started paving the way for people in the adaptive fitness world in 2012 and haven’t looked back since.

My passion for fitness truly began when I started coaching CrossFit/functional fitness to able bodied athletes. It’s amazing how much confidence one can gain when you successfully guide somebody to a goal that you may never physically be able to do.

There were absolutely days that were full of challenges, but once I started connecting with humans using my own cues and coaching language that made sense to me, it was like doors swung wide open!

In 2013 I became the world‘s first level two CrossFit trainer, living with cerebral palsy. It changed my life and my career as I knew it.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband Ty Roach changed my world for the better from the day I met him 9 years ago. Every dream, every challenge, every success and every hurdle he has been there. His unconditional and unwavering support is something I wish everyone experiences in a life partner.
