Meet Stephanie and Allison Doherty and Panio | Teachers & Owners of The Teacher Tote

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie and Allison Doherty and Panio and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephanie and Allison, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We always wanted to create a side business, something we could work on together. Since we are both teachers, we wanted to create a product that would help teachers on a day-to-day basis. We noticed ourselves carrying multiple bags to school (i.e laptop bag, lunch bag, pocketbook) and our goal was to simplify our belongings to one tote.
What should our readers know about your business?
We started this business with absolutley no experience, neither of us have even taken a business class before. We had to learn as we went along the way. We asked a lot of questions, took advice from others and listened to our own guts. Some lessons we learned are to be open and willing to hear feedback, know that you are not an expert in everything and that is okay, and to keep growing and learning everyday.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
From the onset of our journey our parents and our husbands have been our strongest supports. We started by printing out our own mailing labels and fulfilling orders in our parents garages. It was an assembly line and everyone was happy and willing to participate. When we got our first sale/s we were all rejoicing with glee.
