We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Martin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephanie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The freedom to be the CEO of my own life. No longer bound by the daily 9-5 but the creator of my everyday.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
8 years ago when I started my essential oil journey with dōTERRA I hadn’t the slightest clue the road that God was about to put before my husband and I…

I was a stay at home mom and military wife, living a thousand miles away from home and wanting some way to bring in a small income to our family and also a fun way to get out of the house on occasion, & get my oils paid for each month. I didn’t realize what was about to happen nor did I fathom the plant based properties of these oils and what they could do for people.

I looked deep into this company, who doesn’t want to know that they are going with the best one before they dive head first? I researched their compensation plan, mission statement, their humanitarian efforts and why they believed so much in something called ‘Co-impact Sourcing’. I noticed that their donations as well as hard work and efforts to empower impoverished communities with the tools needed to become self-reliant was something you rarely saw.

This company was different, very different, and I liked that. They weren’t flashy. They showed us service for others over sales, encouraged us not to change our way of living or spending but how to become completely debt free instead, how rank and title within the company didn’t determine your worth and how they felt about you but instead how many lives you changed along the way. I saw their heart. I saw that this was something rare and I wanted a part of this rare opportunity because any company that leads like this will only go one place, and that’s up.

I saw a picture of what this could be and of what these tiny little brown bottles could do. I started getting calls left and right from people telling me how they have changed their life and then is when I decided that my journey with dōTERRA wasn’t something I just wanted to tread lightly with. This was it. This was a movement and I needed to be a part of it.

Zackery was up for reenlistment the following year and I knew the second he signed his name on that dotted line was the second we were about to see another year long deployment. Blackhawk pilot = deployment pilot. This Army wife created the strongest why possible and one I would climb any mountain for.

I knew that these tiny little brown bottles weren’t just hippie oils that people more oftentimes then not rolled their eyes about, (jokes on you now) these oils worked and they worked fast and just like these oils, I knew that if I worked, my husband wouldn’t be signing that dotted line again for another six years. These little brown bottles were going to bring my pilot home. Today marks not only our 8 year Anniversary with the greatest company on earth but also the day that we say goodbye to the 9-5. I’m thankful everyday that I get to always have my man by my side.

Today I am grateful. To Jessica who introduced me to these oils. To my incredible leaders & team of powerhouse women. To the Army and the beautiful Blackhawk, who took us all the way from the Arctic of Alaska to the lower 48 of Alabama, to Afghanistan and more. It was a ride & a really good one. ♥️

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My top 3 must see’s/do’s while visiting Phoenix:

Camelback Mountain: this is a hike, be fair warned but if you are in for the most epic birds eye view of the city and a great work out, then this is most definitely for you! Bring your hiking shoes and water and go before sunup if possible. Take your time getting to the top. It’s not a race, enjoy the moment.

Desert Botanical Gardens: gorgeous towering cacti, succulents, glass sculptures and brilliant wildflowers is something you will enjoy while strolling through here. An experience worth seeing and definitely not one to miss.

Downtown Murals: there are so many beautifully artistic and vibrant murals that you will want to see while strolling around downtown. Get ready for some insta worthy photos!

My top 3 must eat’s while visiting Phoenix:

Brunch & Sip: If I could eat here daily, I would. Everything on the menu is delicious. The peach cobbler french toast is to die for but anything you get here, you’ll be satisfied with.

Morning Squeeze: Conveniently located downtown, so a perfect place to grab breakfast or lunch if you’re strolling the city. Good drinks and good eats.

Cocina Madrigal Tacos + Tequila: If you like Mexican, then you’ll love this place. The grilled Elote, tacos, coconut cream pie and churros are A+++

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To my momma:

Don’t think the words you speak to your children on a daily basis affect their future? Think again. I can still hear her words “Stephanie, you can do whatever you want to do. Stephanie, you can be whatever you want to be. Stephanie, you are smart. Stephanie, you are loved. Stephanie, you are perfectly made by our creator and I accept you just the way that you are.” I’m choosing every day to try and be as intentional about the words I speak into my children as my mom spoke into me. We didn’t have the best of everything growing up but through her words I always believed we did. These daily affirmations changed the trajectory of my future and what leading a team of 35,000 women would look like for me. To be totally honest with you all, some days it’s not easy but without those words (that I still hear echoed in my head) I think I would have buckled under the pressure a long time ago.

For that, I thank you Momma for making me, me. ♥️
