We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephen & Giselle Jiroch and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephen & Giselle, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When we initially started The Lovers Passport, we had no intention of starting a business. We initially created this because we enjoyed capturing photos and videos along our travels, and wanted to share helpful information to other like-minded travelers and full-time workers, in hopes to inspire them to travel more! Both of us loved travel, hiking, adventure, and enjoyed the process of capturing the content, editing it, and sharing on social media! Eventually we started to gain traction, and we started to gain more income from this hobby than our regular jobs! This is where we really started to treat this side hustle as a business, and now it is both of our full-time jobs!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We are professional photographers, that were self-taught off YouTube, and are not paid to travel and create content all over the world. Our content creation is different from most other content creators and photographers because we mix high-end content with helpful tips. We found that there were a lot of beautiful images with no real tips on how to get to these incredible places, or there were bloggers that created amazing articles, but did not have incredible imagery, so we bridge the gap between beauty and helpful information. We got to where we are today because of our consistency and hard work. We have currently posted on Social Media for over 900 days in a row, and continue to put out daily content to help grow our business. Our goal is to help show other people that there are other ways to life than being a corporate worker in America, and that there is so much more to see in the world if you learn how to combine business, marketing, and your art skills.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In our opinion, we think that everyone needs to go to Santa Barbara at least once in their life. We would start off with a sunrise at Lizards Mouth, then we would go grab breakfast at Helena Avenue Bakery, after that we would head down state street to grab some drinks and go shopping, in the afternoon we would go to east beach and play Spike ball, before watching sunset on the wharf, and finishing the day with dinner at the Lark in the funk zone of Santa Barbara.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would dedicate our success to our old mentor @dani_the_explorer for teaching us the ropes of Social Media when we were first starting out and to our new mentor James Wedmore because he is helping us scale and turn our business from a six-figure business into a multiple seven-figure business.
