We had the good fortune of connecting with Steven Arounh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Steven, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
Steven Arouh (Lead Singer & Guitarist) – When all of our hard work comes together. Ultimately, as long as people are enjoying music together, that makes me happy.
Bob Dyer (Bassist/Gamer) – It’s the simple things. Whether it’s another band rehearsal or show night, doing what I love and having others enjoy it with me is what makes me happy.
Zenon Castro (Percussionist): Sonoran Hot Dogs. #Phoenix
Daniel Robinson (Drummer): Healing the people with music! Even if it’s only for a short time.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We are an original reggae band from Arizona. Our art is made with the intent to bring people together. The main reason we are different from other bands is because we truly enjoy the musical process, the good and bad. We feed off of making others feel joy and the energy they reciprocate.
We got to where we are professionally by taking risks and hard work. We literally started our band from a post on Craigs List. It definitely is not easy this whole “ride” and we overcame the challenges with love for the music and growth. We learned to keep “pushing through the mud” during our band breakup/remake times, and pivot during these pandemic times.
Through a craigslist ad, our band came together to do what we love from the ground up. Our mission is to unite people through our sound. If we could spread any specific message, it would be for our listeners to follow their dreams. If we didn’t take the time out of our day to follow our passions, our music wouldn’t exist.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
1. Comedor Guadalajara in Phoenix Or Mangos in Mesa – Amazing Mexican Food!
2. Drinks at Gracies Tax Bar in Phoenix or Casey Moore’s in Tempe – Dope environments and chill vibes.
3. Last Exit Live in Phoenix – Great place to watch a live show and drink more!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would love to dedicate our “shoutout” to all of our family, friends, and reggae supporters. They have shown nothing but love and helped push us to the professional level we are currently. We hope to make them proud and stay true to the city of Phoenix.
