We had the good fortune of connecting with Steven Guistolise and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Steven, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I have always wanted to have my own business and incorporate as many things that I love into a bundle so that I can truly enjoy what I do day in and day out. As many other entrepreneurs have done, I have started several other companies and brands that have come out on the losing end. It was unbelievably frustrating but when they would fail I would always take away the things that worked and the things that did not work. I noticed that brand identity is one of the biggest things you can do to create a successful business. Moosnhots Stadium On Wheels is a name that could mean a lot of things but when I put the visuals of a literal baseball stadium on wheels and really mimicked the feel and smells of a stadium then people began to realize that this is a place where they can get some stadium type food without actually going to a stadium. Not only that but they could even play an actual baseball game on the back of the truck. Where else can you get an experience like that?
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have always had a creative imagination but I never thought I had the skillset to prove it in a career setting. I had incredibly bad grades all throughout school and it really wore me down. The thing that really got to me was that I tried so hard to understand and focus but still ended up either failing or barely passing. Once Highschool was over I began noticing that I may not have been book smart but I could create visuals, branding and marketing like no one else that I knew. I could take an empty store and turn it into a wonderland. I inherited these traits from my dad, who owned an online magic store and grew it into one of the premier magic sites in the US. I began working with him after a few unbearable sales jobs out of Highschool. The magic site soon turned into an actual retail location. He ended up moving out of state and I wanted to stay put. This then began another couple years of grueling sales jobs. It was to the point where I could no longer take it anymore and was frantically grasping for anything that intrigued me in the slightest and fulfil my creative itch! That’s when Moonshots Stadium On Wheels was born.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We live in the East Valley and our go-to spot for food and drinks is downtown Gilbert. So many food options, live music and bars all on a little strip. We would also have to go hiking and tubing on the salt river. Our favorite secret spot is a hiking trail right next to the river called Phon D, Sutton Mountain Mid, but shhhhhh don’t tell anyone else. We would also catch a ball game at Chase Field and probably do a lot of golfing. We are from Chicago and miss the snow a bit so heading up to Prescott or Flagstaff during the winter is a must during that time! We have only been here a year now so we are still searching for some great spots!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife Olivia is definitely the other half to Moosnhot’s success. She would always support me through all of my other businesses with a smile and encouragement When I told her I wanted to buy a food trailer in 2018 she was on board and helped me every step of the way. We compliment each other so well and both have this potent drive to make this business a success. What I am bad at she is good at and vice versa. Also my mom and dad for planting the idea in my head in the first place. I never thought the profession that I would want to spend my whole life doing would be a food truck but you don’t really know what you will like unless you give it a try.
