We had the good fortune of connecting with Sydney Carstens and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sydney, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I have always loved everything involving fashion. I knew this was a route I wanted to take after I graduated from college along with continuing on with my other career path with psychology. I would always get so many compliments on what I would wear and that truly motivated me to make my brand. Golden Coast Kouture is a place I can put my style and ideas out there. A vision board of clothing pieces I truly love. When I first started out, I had no idea that I would make the sales I did. I had so many individuals reach out to me and tell me how I was about to really take off doing this store because they knew how much I loved fashion. I thought the feedback and support from my family and friends truly motivated me to make my dreams a living reality. I have always had the idea of creating this outlet for me, but never had the time and kept putting it off. I am loving every minute now of Golden Coast Kouture. I am so happy to share my passion and style with everyone.

What should our readers know about your business?
The journey of starting my own online store wasn’t easy. I am a 22 year old female just starting to figure my life out. I am doing my masters at the moment, as well as being a Behavioral Health Technician. I love to keep busy and fashion has always sparked a high interest for me. I think my store is different from others because I incorporate more unisex pieces for anyone to wear. There’s many stores out there that just stick to men or women sizing, but I think unisex sizing and pieces are truly incredible because anyone can wear no matter what gender. I just started my business a couple months ago. I am just starting out, but I have learned many concepts of the fashion industry already. I want people wearing my pieces to feel more confident and release their inner badass side.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Since I am a on the go gal, I would have a full itinerary planned. I would take my friend to a great coffee and breakfast place, then do obviously some shopping after. I enjoy being active so going hiking, boating etc. Eating at all the high ranked food places we truly can, then end the day by going downtown for some nightlife or attending concerts. I am new to Arizona so I am still trying to find some fun places to explore! I see a lot of “things to do in Arizona” Tik Toks and I want to try absolutely everything they post.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I truly have been inspired by seeing content on social media of fashion especially Pinterest boards! Without the support from my family and close friends, I would have never opened up Golden Coast Kouture.
