Meet Taylor Westrick | Owner & Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Westrick and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Since I was a little girl, I was always using my imagination to create things. You could find me painting, making things like animal masks, or even crafting glittery jewelry. There was no way I was going to end up in a boring desk job where I would be doing the same thing day in and day out. I chose to pursue a creative career so I could utilize my passion for creativity every single day. I’m an out of the box thinker, and I thrive on having new and exciting things to tackle each day.

Currently I am the owner and designer of Femology, which is my jewelry business creation. The slogan for Femology is “The Science Behind your Feminine Style.” This really speaks to the fact that every day you work to create your own style by putting different elements together, like a personal potion or experiment. This is everything including your clothes, make up, hair style, and even jewelry & accessories. Femology is designed to help you with your daily ensembles by providing unique pieces in limited quantities so that you are always expressing your special individuality with jewelry designs that are one of a kind, just like you.

With Femology booming and thriving on social media and Etsy, I am able to not only be the designer of the pieces, but also the social media manager and really grow this creative business in all aspects, which makes my career in the artistic and creative career field so exciting and rewarding.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being the owner and designer of Femology is quite the gig! I get to create unique, one of a kind, jewelry pieces that allow my customers (Femologists) to express their individuality and personalities with the items that really speak to them. I get inspired by seasons, color trends, people, music, and moods to create the pieces that comprise the Femology jewelry shop, which means there is always something fun and new on the horizon!

My mission with Femology is to provide people with a place to find special pieces just for them, not your typical designs and styles that you see everyone wearing from the same stores around town. Each one of us is special, amazing and unique, and I believe our accessories need to reflect that. This is what I believe sets Femology apart from other jewelry brands.

While creating and bringing to life this business and the designs that build the jewelry shop, I do have other jobs that I keep in order to stay successful in this crazy world. Femology is up and running, but its a small business and isn’t my only source of income. Being an entrepreneur can seem glamorous, but its also a lot of hard work. I currently have Femology, but I also work a full time job as a commercial interior designer, and believe it or not I also have a side hustle with my husband where we have a professional photography business. The creativity is ever flowing and the work is non-stop to create successful businesses. The thing I pride myself on is that I never give up and I’m always looking for ways to improve and grow my small businesses. If you have a dream you have to go after it. If it doesn’t work, try a different path but keep pursuing the same goal and you’ll get there as long as your work your butt of for it!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I Love Arizona! I grew up in Scottsdale and went to college in Tempe, so I have a lot of favorite spots that I frequent and would be delighted to share!

Let’s Talk Brunch! OHSO Brewery is a go to for me. They have amazing food and drinks with a fun but chill atmosphere. I’m a big fan of the brisket sandwich with sweet potato fries, but you have to try the fruity pebbles french toast. Its a delicious and unique treat! For drinks I’m a huge mimosa girl, and I can’t get enough of the pineapple and grapefruit flavors they have in addition to the classic orange mimosa that can’t be beat!

If I’m looking to rage during brunch then RnR is the place to be. They bump loud music, creating that club vibe. Their food is fantastic, but I’m usually here for the drinks. Mimosa Towers are where its at and they are great for groups large or small. This is a boomerang and instagram spot for sure, so get your phones ready and really embrace that Scottsdale party vibe!

For some daily adventures there are lots of activities around to get involved in. A favorite for me would be “A” Mountain in Tempe. Its a steep but easy hike (like walking up a giant hill that is paved most of the way) with an amazing view of the city at the top. This makes it a fun way to get outside and grab some amazing photo opps without having to have crazy hiking skills. Papago Park is another casual and scenic outdoor adventure spot that I love. The landscape is very unique and makes you feel like your walking around on Mars or someplace out of this world. If you want some fun on the water then I would say head to Tempe Town Lake. This man-made lake is a gem in the desert and allows for paddle boarding, kayaking, sail boating, or just a leisurely walk by the water to see the people and wildlife that frequents this beautiful area. Its gorgeous and I’m there on the regular for walks at sunset, which are breathtaking!

Nightlife Time! Happy Hour at the Gladly is a must! I love sitting at the bar and having the amazing bartenders create custom cocktails for me and my peeps! They are wizards and I can’t get enough of the amazing experience they create every single time! The sausage and pretzel is quite frankly my favorite thing on the menu and is perfect for snacking while enjoying the craft cocktails and swanky environment that makes the Gladly so amazing and unique.
A night out wouldn’t be complete without a visit to AZ88! This stunning Scottsdale bar has the most amazing martinis that will knock your socks off. Not to mention the interior is phenomenal with a giant disco ball art installation in the center, which makes everything sparkle and glitter. Take all the pictures here and don’t forget to check out the bathrooms! you won’t be disappointed!

There are tons of amazing spots in Arizona, but those are some of my favorites that never let me down! Cheers!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shout out to my amazing husband, Andrew! He is my rock and is always encouraging me to go after my dreams, no matter how crazy or off the wall they seem. Having a positive support system is everything and allows you to really push the limits and grow while having the confidence that someone’s got your back no matter what.
