We had the good fortune of connecting with Teresa Calderon Rouse and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Teresa, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my business to provide a place where lash health was priority. Not always will a client be able to have exactly what they want, natural lashes play a huge role in what the lash can and can’t handle. When I explain things I am very honest and go into detail with my reasoning as to what I feel is best for their lashes. Aftercare is just as important. Following proper aftercare also ensures the health of your lashes. I am very humbled and grateful for the loyalty of my clients. They are what keeps my business open. The trust they have given me to ensure their lashes stay healthy for the past 3 1/2 years goes without saying. This is such a fun industry, the smile I see on women’s faces is so rewarding. Lashing is very easily my passion.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It’s been 3.5 years since I opened Luxe Lash Bar, my business has survived opening with one client and struggling to build my books, as well as most recently a pandemic. It has definitely been stressful at times but I have the greatest clients that’s what I’m most proud of, the loyalty. There are still days when I surprise myself when I finish a set of lashes. The beauty I am able to create still amazes me to this day. I’ve learned over the years to stick to my polices no matter what,
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Favorite spots in the city, that’s a great question since I am mostly a homebody. The Grand Canyon is absolutely beautiful! As well as Sedona! My favorite spots to eat are Angry Crab and this amazing place I recently found Jalapeño Inferno, I go for the drinks! I’m a Cardinals fan so if there’s a game it’s a must! I spend my off time with family and crafting.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband and children who from the beginning encouraged me to open my own business and even though it was a slow start they kept me strong and assured me I had made the right choice. Always having faith in me when I was unsure I had made the right decision.
