We had the good fortune of connecting with Thaddeus Hornung and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Thaddeus, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I personally view taking risks as a necessary vehicle for progress. No one ever changed a thing without taking a risk. In my own experience taking risks has granted me the opportunity to work with some of my favorite artists and musicians that I looked up to as a kid. Without taking that leap I never would have had that chance.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a multi-instrumentalist based out of Phoenix. I play for multiple local projects (Headspace, Sorry X, Gaslite), as well as, doing merch and tour manager duties for touring acts around the country. I am originally from Pennsylvania then joined the Air Force in 2016 which brought me to Arizona, where I joined my first band out here (Headspace RIP). From there I guess from word of mouth more and more artists starting contacting me for guitar/drum work until it became a full time profession. Starting in a city where I knew no one was an extremely challenging mountain to climb, but also taught just how important networking can be. You never really know who is talking about you and possibly could bring an unseen opportunity your way.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wanna shoutout Sorry X for getting me this interview and the chance to work with her. Go check her music out! Also my parents for always supporting my dreams no matter how loud it got. Also all my friends in the local phx scene and the friends I’ve made all over the world. Love you guys
