We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Formicola and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittany, what do you attribute your success to?
Support. I wouldn’t be where I’m at now without my support team. They’re the ones that put my name out to get me business, that listen to my new ideas or sample my products to give me the honest feedback I need, whenever I ask them. It’s a huge weight lifted when you have your support team.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My favorite part of my business is when anyone reaches out to me and says “can you do this..” it can be just about anything. I absolutely love learning how to do something new. When I originally started TheCraftyCola, I only really did wedding signage. I expanded out to all signage and now I’m doing stickers, earrings, signage, doormats, tie dye, hair clips, hair bows, bow ties, and cake toppers. One of my first commissions outside of my family, I was supposed to do a huge vinyl seating chart. It was my very first one and it took me forever. I definitely underestimated it but I was so thankful the guy that hired me was super understanding and very patient and everything turned out well in the end. I’d love the world to know that supporting any small businesses is life changing, you could be supporting someone’s dreams.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d start out with breakfast at Seis Kitchen, they have the best breakfast burritos. I’d probably take them to the desert museum after that to walk off the burrito and see some wildlife, and finish the day with a little bbq. I’d definitely plan a trip to go up to The Plant Stand in Phoenix and probably have to stop at the ostrich farm since it’s on the way home. My favorite restaurant right now is noodleholics, the sizzling garlic is phenomenal and I can’t get enough of it so I’d definitely make a couple trips there while they were in town. We’d have a couple rest days with face masks and binge watching The Office or having a Harry Potter Marathon and eating crumble cookies since we finally got one in town! I’m more of a homebody than anything else but I’d have to squeeze in a few hikes in the mornings and probably a trip up mount lemon!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family most importantly but also everyone who has believed in me.
