We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiesha Harrison and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiesha, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I AM Undefined Art started out as a positive affirmation for viewers of my artwork. I was laid off from a corporate job and shortly after I made one of the biggest decision in my life to pursue a career I had no experience in which was to become a Professional Visual Artist. “I AM” are the two most powerful words, for what you put after them shapes your reality. It was powerful and I wanted my brand to represent this symbolic meaning. After several attempts of selecting words to follow “I AM”, the word “Undefined Art” came to mind and it was the final puzzle piece to my brand. It was like a light bulb turned on. “I AM Undefined Art” would be a subliminal message for viewers when they experienced my brand and art. I begin every artwork with “I AM” then the title of the piece as a positive affirmation. It is intentional and meaningful. We are all UNDEFINED ART. Love it!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

What do you want the world to know about your brand and story?

I AM Undefined Art is an intentional + inspirational + intuitive brand. As a professional visual artist and event planner, my purpose is to use my work to collaborate with organizations and uplift others who have been silenced by inner doubt from life experiences. My purpose is to inspire the world to fully embrace their UNDEFINED soul. This was a result of being silenced for simply being ME. And because I know how it felt, I want to help others to step into their light. This quote by Oprah has become a daily mantra for my life, “Your life journey is about learning to become more of who you are and fulfilling the highest, truest expression of yourself as a human being. That’s why you’re here.”

Please tell us more about your art.
I begin my process in a soulful and innovative approach which include elements traditionally used in conceptual and interactive art. My work often include bold visuals, vibrant concepts, mixed media, hand-cut collages, and oil paint. It is best described as fearless, intuitive, and infinitely expanding. I am inspired by artists who are not afraid to push the envelope, the Abstract Expressionists – for their emotional rawness, journey, and mark making, and the Renaissance Artists – for innovation, inspiration, philosophy and movement. I believe these influences are reflected in every brushwork and bold visuals. I AM Undefined Art tells a story whether it’s inspired by an intuitive energy of inspiration, a life experience, connection with another person, or music that triggers an EMOTION.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love bestie trips! There are quite a few beautiful places in Arizona, the first stop for us would be Page, AZ to see the beautiful view at Horseshoe Bend, take a tour of Antelope Canyon and kayak across Lake Powell. Our plan is to explore the this deserted island with several other fun exciting nature-lover friends and then stay on a house boat for the night. So amazing! Day 2 – is travel to Flagstaff for breakfast at “MartAnne Burrito Palace” to enjoy a plate full of delicious Mexican food and then walk over to “Crystal Magic Gift Shop” to look at the beautiful minerals and crystals before heading over to the lake. After exploring downtown Flagstaff we will drive to Lake Mary to relax in our hammocks and paint, after 3 hours of relaxation in nature we will drive through Oak Creek Canyon and stop for a photo op at the creek. Next stop in Sedona is our favorite restaurant called, “The Hudson”. Then check-into our rooms at the Sky Rock Inn for Day 3-5. During our time in Sedona we will visit the Amitabha Stupa Peace Park, Photograph the stars/galaxy, visit galleries, explore nature, etc. Day 6 will be a day trip to Fossil Creek for a 4 hour hike before our drive home. A week filled with exploration and connection with God’s beautiful creation. NATURE + OUR SOUL.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes! Yes! Yes!!!!! I would not be where I am on my art/creative/self-RE-discovery journey if it was not for GOD, my family, my best friend, mentors, friends, art collectors, professors, teachers, leaders, strangers and anyone I have had an encounter with in the past, present, and in the future. There are sooooooo many to name….SERIOUSLY. The work I have done, am doing and will be doing are inspired by the people I get to meet and build a relationship with on a daily. Everyone who has sent me a comment, email, message, phone call, connected me with another leader in our community is the driving force to “My Purpose in Life.” I am truly grateful on a daily basis and it means the world to me the support I received from everyone. This shoutout is to YOU ALL. Thank you so much for being part of this journey of inspiration and CONNECTION!!!!!!!!!! I HOPE YOU KONW HOW MUCH YOU ARE APPRECIATED. We are ONE.
