We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Engen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiffany, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Absolutely! So my business helps the community and the world by promoting awareness, normalizing a variety of experiences, connecting families to quality resources, therefore improving outcomes for those struggling with the number one complication of childbirth; perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. Additionally I am providing compassionate peer support & valuable education to families on their reproductive journey. Actively reducing trauma and harm, nurturing and companioning families as they navigate the complexities in this chapter of their lives.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I am a full spectrum doula (meaning from conception and beyond, in birth and in death) childbirth educator, maternity- birth- newborn photographer and perinatal mental health advocate/support ! This work is truly my souls work and I am passionate about making a tangible difference in the world. What sets me apart from others is my heart, my dedication, tenacity , and my lived experiences. I have faced and pushed through much adversity to get where I am now. It has taken a lot of hard work and focus on personal growth and healing. What I want the world to know about me? Wow what a question!! I want the world to know that no matter what you are facing, life’s greatest joys or most painful challenges, I am there to walk alongside you hand in hand. I am always striving to give my best and always learning. I care deeply about supporting you through life’s meaningful moments !

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would probably start by taking them to Tombstone, Bisbee and all of the other really cool historical sites this city has to offer. I love how rich in history this city is. Next would be The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum or the Botanical Gardens. This desert has some of the most magnificent flora and fauna one can see. A trail ride on horseback would be next on the itinerary. Then a visit to Greentoes Spa is a must for me, lunch or dinner at Tanias 33 on Grande Ave or Little Love Burger down on Congress St! From there I say we would go down to historic 4th Ave and walk around into Pop Cycle or Antigone Books and the Food Conspiracy Co -op. Definitely the skate rink or bowling to wrap up our adventure !

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely ! I want to give recognition and credit to my personal life mentor and very dear friend Murshida Va. Without her I definitely wouldn’t be as far as I am today. So much love and gratitude for my relationship with her. I want to give recognition to another one of my teachers, Amy Wright Glenn. Her work, her guidance and the community through her Institute for the Study of Birth Breath & Death have been so impactful. Additionally the organization Postpartum Support International has been instrumental in my work in perinatal mental health in my community. Last but not least, and most importantly, I want to dedicate my shoutout to my husband, my children and the families I have the privilege of serving; they are my life’s greatest teachers!
