We had the good fortune of connecting with Tina Gross and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tina, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process for starting my own business was to deliver a brand of athletic wear for women of all shapes and sizes. I wanted women to feel confident and fashionable in their everyday life. My thought was to also have this affordable and for women to feel comfortable in their own skin. I wanted my brand to be geared towards women of all sizes not just the size 2 or a size 4.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started my career in the criminal justice field at a very young age. I worked with the department of corrections for seventeen years. I decided to leave the department of corrections to pursue the behavioral health field. After feeling unappreciated for many years, I decided to make a change and pursue my dreams and to set my own hours. The journey hasn’t been easy I work hard every day but with a smile on my face knowing that I’m getting closer each day in making my dreams come true. I have learned through trial and error there have been many long days and sleepless nights. I’m definitely motivated to see my brand come to life. I’m excited what the future holds because I believe in my brand and my determination. I believe all of the hard work will pay off. I’m not only doing this for myself but also my children and my grandchildren. I want them to know that it’s never too late to go after what you want in life and always have faith and determination.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would start our week in Sedona. I would suggest a day of sightseeing and touring the town. We would then visit some of the art galleries and craft shops. I would then visit the Tlaquepaque Arts and shopping village where you could indulge in a meal at the El rincon Mexican Restaurant. We would also take a tour of the Japanese Friendship Gardens in Phoenix after a nice day of touring the gardens we would end the day at Roka Akor restaurant in Scottsdale. We would then end our week at the Odyssey Aquarium in Scottsdale Arizona.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The first shoutout goes to God without him there wouldn’t be a vision or brand. I acknowledge my husband who has been my backbone and my support system. I acknowledge my friend Mary who has been standing beside me in my Entrepreneural dreams. I also acknowledge my family for their love and encouragement. I acknowledge all of my mentors and the models behind the scenes.
