Meet Tony Knight | Independent Music Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tony Knight and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tony, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
As busy as I am, I will always be apart of my kids life. I’ve been there to watch them grow, teach them, support them, and love them equally but most importantly where they come from. Our traditional roots.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m the first person in my family to do something like this with music. To be honest I don’t know how this all started but I just know music has always been my only therapy for everything. I go through alot, I struggle with so much, but I continue to not give up on the things I love to do. It’s amazing because this all started with a decent $30 dollar recording microphone and a laptop that’s barely hanging on, and no fancy studio. I just did what I could with what I had. I’m just a Rez boy coming through with a different tune and chose to do something different than what most were doing. I spoke more about my struggles, my emotions, where I come from and the things we do on these old backroads of FlatRock, AZ. I’m not talented at all but the things I’ve done is coming from hard work and self motivation. From working ten hour shifts and 2 hour drives to get to work, back home to being a family man and home chores to do isn’t easy but I managed to get em all done. With every little free time I get I try my best to get some recording in and most nights I’ll be up late recording music and driving to work with no sleep at all and sometimes I ask myself how the hell I do it or why I do it but I know it’s something I won’t stop doing. I’ll continue what I do so I can give motivation to those who wanna do something different and don’t be scared to take a different route from everyone else. Be you and love who you are, we all struggle, we all have goals and dreams we wanna succeed so don’t give up, continue to be the star you are.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ain’t much in this small town to do but Monument Valley is around the corner from where I’m from. Backroads and dirtroads, chill nights underneath the stars with a bonfire and good music, cookouts and a few beers with a few friends.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First off, my family, my kids and my day ones for all the love and support throughout the years. And most importantly my manager kari/writtyn for everything she’s done for my me. Thank you all for always showing the love for my music.
