We had the good fortune of connecting with Trell Hayes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Trell, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I don’t want to wake up each & every day working for someone else… I want to be my own boss! I’ve always said since a kid that I wanted to be an entrepreneur. At the time, I didn’t fully know what it really meant but I knew it was a person who work for self and that’s all I needed to know. That’s what I wanted to be!!! Now, I’m here today running a growing photography brand.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I got to where I am today with my photography by dedicating myself to learning every aspect through YouTube. All of what I know right now has been self taught through countless tutorials and endless trial & error days shooting. It definitely hasn’t been an easy road but still a beautiful adventure of learning and growing. When you’re coming in brand new without any actual professional knowledge, one of the main challenges could be self-confidence and consistency. And these are two areas that both ended up being challenging for me since I was always in question of my own art while also allowing others to. This eventually hindered my progress and going forward with photography in the way that I should’ve for a bit due to doubt, comparing myself, and letting what others thought get to me. The lesson I learned was to first remind myself that I was an artist and second, that “art is subjective“. So what beauty ones eye see may be different than that of another’s. I decided to create a style I could signature as my own and would love just as much as I would want the next person to. So that is what I did!!!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
It depends what they’re going for at the time because I have different ideas to try to match the vibe. Most of the best spots in the city to visit are definitely outdoors, in my opinion. That could also be because I love the outdoors and nature just that much! If it were a week long trip, I would make sure to take them to some of my new favorite Vegan food spots and vendors to try throughout the city, hit the amazing red rocks of Sedona for a breathing-taking, spiritual experience, maybe even hike and camp out since the weather is so beautiful around this time of year! Then to add some excitement into the mix, I could take them out to see few different events from live music to comedy. Or, visit some of the top spots in the city to wine & dine. It would really all depend on how they want to spend that time – relaxing or actively doing things!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Most definitely!!!! I was recently blessed in a major way with a brand new Sony A7rii camera & lens by an amazing Entrepreneur & Leader named Glo Atanmo. Receiving this gift has given me back so much motivation and drive! My photography game is going to jump to the next level so much faster. It will definitely be the result of a lot of my coming success. I’m so thankful for her, this new gear I’ve received, and the opportunities ahead!!!!
