We had the good fortune of connecting with Tria Decker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tria, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
My favorite message to remind myself is: “Focus on doing small things, consistently and over time.” This eases any overwhelm or anxiety we might feel by reminding us that even a small step is better than none. It takes the pressure off and allows us to keep moving forward..
What should our readers know about your business?
I started Intuitive Health and Wellness after I graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in May of 2020. I am a life-long plant-based eater and health enthusiast. My parents were very health-conscious and introduced me to many nutritious and “different” foods when I was growing up. While I sometimes felt like an odd duckling, I am so grateful that I was introduced to this way of eating and wellness at an early age.
After college, I became more interested in overall health and wellness – my specialty and passions now revolve around self-care and nutrition. Imagine a world of people who prioritize their wellness on every level! Self-care is especially important to me because there have been times in my life when I neglected myself (most notably when I was a single mom and also when I was in an emotionally abusive relationship) and have experienced first hand the power of prioritizing self-care.
I also recently became a certified Intuitive Eating Counselor. The word ‘Intuitive’ is important to me (It’s in the name of my coaching practice!) because it’s all about learning to tune into your individual needs and the inner knowing that we all have. Eating intuitively is just one way we can nourish ourselves and tap into our innate wisdom. Guiding and encouraging my clients to access their intuition is so gratifying and I am so grateful to do this work!
I currently offer self-care work shops, group coaching, 1:1 coaching and an online solo course, available on my website (www.intuitivehealthcoaching.org).
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had visitors, I would definitely take them to see the natural beauty of Tucson. We would go to Sabino Canyon and Saguaro National Park, and we would have to go to 4th Ave and downtown. The MSA Annex is also a fun place to get lunch and explore shops. Perhaps La Encantada and the look-out at the end of Campbell. Some special Eastside spots I would take them are The Pit (food truck stop) and Rozet Nursery for some unique gifts and plant shopping. While there, we would get a delicious drink at Espressoul! (coffee truck)
We would have to go to dinner at Govinda’s Natural Foods Buffet and get lunch at Gandhi Cuisine of India (I’m a huge Indian food fan!) It would be a busy week.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are many people that have supported me in my journey to become a full-time Heath Coach. My husband, Joemar, who kept the faith when I suddenly decided to quit my full-time job and change careers. Someone I follow on Instagram – a coach, author and entrepreneur among other things, inspired me to follow my passion – Sahara Rose Ketabi.
Outside of my practice, I work for a global corporate wellness company as a Health Coach and have learned so much from the amazing people that work in this organization. They have supported my growth over the past 2 years in so many ways.
My family and friends have always been supportive of my aspirations. I am eternally grateful for all the love and support in my life!
