We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria B. Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Victoria B., can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“I refuse to give up” This is the PC Version. Years ago I had a conversation with one of the sergeants in my unit and we were talking about life and the obstacles and at that time, I was juggling being a single mother of two children with one of my children having a lot of medical issues, working and serving in the Air National Guard. At this time in my life I felt defeated, I couldn’t see pass my current situation and he could see my hopelessness. That one conversation over 15 years ago stuck with me for the rest of my life and has been my lives model. What that means to me is never settle for anything less than greatness. What I like about it is that everything is temporary so it’s no need to fill helpless because everything is a mindset and when you have your mind made up the possibilities are endless.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
So I after starting the Non-profit and came Covid I realized I needed to pivot and figure out how can I create a stream of income to support my cause. So many people were effected and I did not want to only rely on donors. So I started investing in Real estate in my home town. I have two rentals so that will help with expenses with the non-profit. I’m currently working on a collaboration to renovate inner city homes with a purchase point of 60-65k to help combat the issue with affordable housing, it is a way to have affordable homes and not be over priced. How did I get her Persistence and being blessed to be connected to the right people. The lessons I learned were to be patient it always works out, it may not be what you expects but it always works out for the best. My Brand is Victoria B. Thompson the Mother, Motivational Speaker, Investor, Future New York Best Times Best Seller, Philanthropist, Entrepreneur who never gave up on herself.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ok, My Idea trip would be…..First go to White Chocolate Grill, To be honest that probably would be dinner all week, I love their drinks, appetizers and my Fav is the Filet Minion Chefs choice, and you have to get any dessert. The next would be wine tasting at Coopers Hawk Winery I have heard nothing but great reviews. Because me and best friend like to shop I would take her to Tempe Market Place, Check out Heidi Boutique in scottsdale, and Small goods market we love shopping with small business owners. . And We would most definitely go to South Mountain and go hiking to see the views.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Oh Wow! I have a lot of people that have guided and given me wisdom over the years. I look at every situation and person apart of my journey some good some bad but I needed to cross paths to take me to where I am today. My mother made me a better mother than I ever imagined I could be, I have two uncles both retired from the Air National Guard who I seek advice professional and personal guidance. And My Aunt who has been my second mother and has been there when I needed her. Early in my military career I had a life changing conversation with at the time TSgt Markus Whitehead who I have carried his words with me. With the military you tend to make life long friendships I met MSgt Jefferson in basic training and she has been there me in ways I have never had someone be there, she is more than a friend she is family. As far a my professional career I have a few people who stand out, Another person from when I served under in the military was LtCol Booth”Speed” Johnston an F-16 pilot who has always treated me as his equal, Col Shaunte Cooper who has always supported me even once I left out of the military. For the more recent times, I have a Mentor Micheal Welsh at the Phoenix VA who has an open door policy and cares about the veterans and staff and takes time out of his day to address issues. It is rare to find someone in leadership who takes time out of their day to lower level staff. He has shown me what a real leader looks and acts like. And one last person is my Attorney and business partner, I have never seen a person who gives back so much and truly care about people. I often wonder where he finds the time to do what is does on a regular basis. I would have to say almost everyone who has touched my life all hold the Same Values as I do. As far as books that I recommend that I often reread is the Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, The Law of Attraction by Ester and Jerry Hicks, Think and grow rich by Napoleon Hill, Power of positive thinking by Norman Vincent Peale, Hurricanes by Rick Ross, and Jay-Z by Micheal Eric Dyson.
