We had the good fortune of connecting with Vitoria Silva and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vitoria, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Through working at a local Board & Train facility, I realized just how ineffective dog training was in the majority of cases. This is because such sterile backdrop does not begin to approximate the place where behavioural issues tend to occur in dogs: Home.
Because of this, I decided to start Sit Happens Cave Creek as a means of training and rehabilitating dogs within their home environment. This practice has proven vastly more effective in helping dogs achieve the balance they need to live healthy and happy lives.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I did not invent the wheel when it comes to dog training. I made the wheel turn in a way that makes sense to the many dog owners I work with. As a trained psychotherapist, I am able to draw certain parallels between human and canine behaviour. Most clients seem to truly appreciate these comparisons as dogs become more relatable to us… and vice-versa.
Anyone running their own business or service will likely tell you it is never easier. But this is precisely what ignited my entrepreneurial flame. By keeping the larger picture in mind, daily challenges can be overcome. In my case, the larger picture is my contribution to the lives I touch through my work. Witnessing both the grateful human smiles and joyous tail wags at the end of a session makes it all well worth it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Cave Creek is a charming and welcoming city! We still retain that sort of Old West flair combined with the excitement of world-class shopping, dining, and golf in nearby Scottsdale and natural desert beauty of Carefree. One of my favourite places to explore is the Sundial in Carefree where a delicious breakfast awaits. Shopping at their Farmer’s Market is a delight with enticing local offerings. Cocktail hour and dinner at Rancho Manana overlooking their beautiful greens is a must. You may also lodge there as it is an excellent hotel. As for hanging out… Wherever dogs gather, that is my absolute recommendation!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In typical Brazilian fashion…. I would like to dedicate my success to God! It has been a rough ride at times and I would not trade a moment of it!
