We had the good fortune of connecting with Viviana Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Viviana, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process when I first started my own business was to think about what I wanted out of it. I then did my research on all the things I can and was able to do. Without knowing what to expect I led with my intuition/ gut feeling and just started.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I tend to try to do different styles of art, but I tend to be drawn more to illustrative and cartoony ones. Doodle and abstract art are some inspirations that I find help when I have art block. I have always loved drawing and always dreamed of having my own coloring book. I would work many jobs not related to art but when I would come home I would draw and watch videos on drawing. It was not an easy path since I wasn’t sure where to go or what I wanted; all I knew was that at the end of the day I was drawn to a pencil and paper creating random drawings. After finishing my AAS in Culinary Arts I decided that I wanted a career in the field that I have always wanted and got my AAS in Fine Arts. Through my classes I found my style and what I was more into. With this in mind I want the world to know that deep down you yourself know what you want to be when you get older. Just trust yourself and the skills know and go for it. Take a risk and in the long run someone will notice and help you out. Let your inner child come out and express yourself. Just be free and go for it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take my friend to different cafes and show them around the area. One of my favorite cafes is Aromamocha Cafe in Avondale. Show them all the new places I have come across. We would get boba at JT boba house, Bombboba, or Tastea in Glendale. Downtown Phoenix has many fun places to explore and shop around.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout out to the artists I’ve found on Instagram such as Vexx and Trippydraws for reminding me to keep going and inspire me. They help me be open minded and free.
