We had the good fortune of connecting with Wes Neal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Wes, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was after working in the golf industry for 17 years and seeing firsthand how much water is used and how much fertilizers and labor costs have gone up, especially as of recent, the cost to overseed a yard has gone up significantly to the average homeowner. At the same time I know people enjoy the site of lush green grass. With my new business, I am able to help homeowners significantly reduce water usage, fertilizers and frequent maintenance to their yard by simply painting it with an organic safe for pets and people pigment .Water is such a hot topic right now especially in the state of Arizona I thought this could also help the environment by educating people they don’t have to water their yard nearly as much as they think to keep grass green.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I had worked at the same golf course from the time I was 16. I had held just about every position at the golf course that was possible from head golf professional to assistant superintendent. When I transitioned from teaching golf and giving lessons to working out on the maintenance crew, it really opened my eyes seeing just how much hard work goes into day-to-day operations to make a golf course successful and in great condition. It was seeing the practices that we implemented first hand on the golf course to save water and help control costs while still maintaining the same beautiful green playing conditions that made me question if this works out here for a golf course why can’t we bring it to the residential side and help people save money also.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am born and raised in Arizona so I know there are countless places and things to do in this great state. I would obviously recommend visiting a golf course or two while they’re here. I would definitely recommend seeing all the state has the offer by venturing up north to Sedona Flagstaff or to the Grand Canyon to see just how diverse the state is. I would have them visit one of our many hiking trails to see the natural beauty of the Sonoran desert. I would also tell them to visit old town, Scottsdale not only for the nightlife, but great restaurants.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the love and support of my wife and parents. I also have to thank the owners of the golf course that I worked at because they gave me a chance at a very young age. I always wanted to prove to them that they made the right decision. It was that drive and passion that led me to be successful.
