We had the good fortune of connecting with Whitney Wingfield and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Whitney, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I am a HUGE foodie and Cocktail lover, and I have always made other people money by making yummy cocktails and handling the beverage portion of special events.. It took over 10 years for me to take the leap and start my own special event bartending business. It is challenging and stressful every single day.. but all of my clients are always super appreciative of the services that my team provides and in the end thats what makes it all worth it!
What should our readers know about your business?
We are a Women Owned Mobile Bartending Service that services the Phoenix Metropolitan area. I would say we are different from other companies because we are personable, friendly, and all of our team has extensive mixology experience and we dont use temp staff for our events so you know who exactly is coming into your home. All of our Bartenders are licensed and insured so you can rest assured knowing your event is handled by professionals. I got where I am today by being in the food and beverage industry since I have been 14 years old. My first job was Jamba juice making smoothies and I just loved making new things and recipes that werent on the menu.. people loved them.. and as I got older that love for making unique things turned into making cocktails and experimenting with different spirits. I worked at bars for about 15 years. The late nights killed me mentally and psychically.. so I knew I had to do something… I bartended weddings occasionally for different companies when I wasnt working at the bar and I loved it but I wanted to do it on my own full time. When covid hit big events were cancelled, the bar was shut down.. and people were having small events in the backyard and cul de sacs in neighborhoods so I started my own company to provide affordable bartending services to cater to that demographic.. and it seemed like everyone wanted parties as things were opening up and now busier than ever. Owning your own business is extremely hard.. people are demanding.. people wait until literally the day of the event and call for a bartender which is stressful and of course I try and make everyone happy. Product is hard to obtain.. Cups were near impossible to find because alot of resturaunts were doing tons of to go orders so something as simple as plastic cups we use for events we couldnt get and had to try and order online so had to pray they would arrive on time for an event. One time I had a huge event and my delivery of 1000 pounds of ice just didnt come, no phone call, no email back just didnt show up.. I took my truck went to costco and bought a pallet of ice.. forklift put it in the back of my truck and the event was saved.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had friends in town I definitely would take them to sedona to show them the natural beauty of our state.. there are tons of yummy breweries and restaurants up there! I for sure would take my guests to some awesome mexican restaurants while they are here, Carlsbad Tavern, Richardsons followed by a cocktail down in the basement at the rokerji, I also would take my jeep up to cave creek to check out harrolds and finish with bull riding and people watching at the buffalo chip. Also a big dive bar fan so one of my favorite things to do is hop on the light rail (also good people watching) and hit different bars along the way.. I love durants steak house and one of the best martinis around.. I think its pretty neat that you enter through the kitchen and amazing food! Another awesome spot and the views are awesome is the wrigley mansion.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would say I can say I am successful because I have an amazing group of friends that ALWAYS help me in many ways, picking product up, making me laugh when times are stressful, and asking what can I do to help you right now? You have no idea of how comforting those words are when I am under a time crunch or deadline for an event.. My Grandma Is a huge part of my life.. She is my biggest fan and always talks me home so I dont fall asleep on long event nights.
