We had the good fortune of connecting with Yolanda vn der Lelij Klein and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yolanda, why did you pursue a creative career?
I always wanted to paint. So when I had a chance I started with painting and enjoying it.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started painting in 2010 it wasn’t easy and still isn’t. The part I love of painting is the challenge and learning process. Over time people recognize my style and sometimes I tryout something different and that keeps it fun. Love to paint still life and buildings in oil and smaller works in colored pencil. Once in awhile a paint on big canvasses and those are mostly flowers.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a farming town but up and coming with the wine industry we have here. I work part time at a winery so I show them around and we have a lovely coffee shop and bakery in town and restaurants. Will take them to the Chiricahua monument a must see. Plenty to do and see in and around Willcox. People are very friendly and lots of stories.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Associated with the Willcox art league they encourage me to keep painting Also my family and friends are very supportive
