We had the good fortune of connecting with Young Vinci and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Young, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Ever since I was a baby, I had my head stuck in a coloring book. Raised in Colorado, I was heavily influenced by all the beautiful landscapes nearby. The winters were long and cold so I found an escape when creating art. It became my creative outlet, a little world I could simply disappear into. The simple intricacies of the world around me leave me deeply and curiously fascinated. I’m not sure why but I am magnetized towards art. After coming across Walter Isaacson’s biography on Leonardo da Vinci. I had an epiphany about man’s place in the universe. The Universal man, ‘Uomo universale’, an ideal that developed in Renaissance Italy by one of Leonardo da Vinci’s teachers, Leon Battista Alberti, he expressed that “a man can do all things if he will.” Leonardo da Vinci embodied this idea. He taught me that you can use your mind to gain access to deep and plentiful creative realms. You can simply take the red pill, like Neo in the Matrix. I found myself to be in a perplexing situation. My life was perfectly oriented to create art and Leonardo da Vinci left a complete guide towards creating everything I’ve ever wanted. The more I look, the more there is to learn. and soon enough you realize you are a tiny drop of water in an infinite ocean of the cosmos. So, I dove in headfirst. With support from friends and family early on, I managed to cultivate my ability to create while still a kid in school. The problem was, I loathed school. Despite passing marks, I was forced to drop out of high school at the end of my senior year because of attendance. I found out I could just teleport from my boring classroom, into my drawing. I discovered that a piece of paper can be as deep as the universe. It became all I thought about. Still is all I think about… I decided to dedicate my life to learning and creating art independently. I have no real formal education, no trust fund, or syndication. Only trial by fire, my own path towards knowledge, and mentorship from a select few. Slowly but surely, I set my eyes on one thing at a time. Learning about ancient history, philosophy, then science, then fiction then anatomy, math, and geometry, etc. I have devoted my life to creating. I have set out on a life-long journey towards mastery. Incredibly young and naive, I hadn’t made much money along the way and I struggled to keep a roof over my head. I woke up one morning in Colorado. I had a strange dream the night before. I realized after many struggles, sleepless nights, endless failure.. and I was trapped. All my life I had been stuck in cold Colorado. I never cared for much, surrounded by people who don’t care for me. My time had come and fortune favors the bold. So I packed the few possessions I had into my old beat-up Subaru and drove to California. I needed to be in Los Angeles. So I left… Overnight, with less than $200 in my bank account, I jumped off the cliff. I set out to chase my dreams. This is where I currently find myself creating art by the ocean. My world revolves around art. Every waking minute of the day my mind is on art in some form. I’m all in. This is my vocation. My purpose in life is to cultivate my craft and give my gift to you… And I will only make a limited number of paintings in my life. So… When you buy one of my paintings you’re not only getting a piece of artwork that I have taken time to perfect, You’re collect part of my journey. In the form of a rare artifact, you invest in my career as an artist. You receive the accumulative result that can only come from thousands of hours of practice. If you support me and my craft, you are special to me. You give meaning and value to my art because without you, I can’t do what I love. I am eternally grateful to all the people who are in my corner. I am committed to creating art at a high level and developing my skills to the moon. My Artist’s Commission is always open and I can paint anything imaginable. I allow access to a select group of collectors. You can explore my website to gain access. To creating new worlds together! Cheers, Vinci

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I grew up in the middle of nowhere. Hidden in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, there is a small town with one stoplight. In Kremmling, Colorado the population is almost non-existent. This is where I grew up for the first 18 years of life. There were about 100 kids in my entire high school. I grew up with most of them since pre-school. These people, my friends were my first collectors. They were the ones who first gave me their undying support. They helped give me the confidence to chase my dreams. Years later and half a world away, they continue to follow me on my journey and support my art. I am eternally grateful for all of my day one friends, even those who doubted me, Thank you!
