We had the good fortune of connecting with Zac Faulk and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Zac, do you have a budget? how do you think about personal finances?
I do have a budget! I take my personal finances as seriously as I do my business finances. Lifestyle and spending decisions are really based on whether or not the decision aligns with my short, medium, and long term financial goals. My top priorities are always covering living expenses, saving, and reinvesting into my business each month. Anything that’s left over goes to fun stuff!
What should our readers know about your business?
What sets me apart from other watch dealers is transparency, passion, and my desire to form strong relationships with my customers. I was motivated to start this business by both my love for watches and entrepreneurship, and my disdain for America’s corporate culture. My customers love the fact that they’re buying watches from one of their own; not from a large corporation where they’re unable to make a connection and form a relationship.
Getting to where I’m at today was not easy. It took both time and effort to become profitable and develop a sustainable business model. Overcoming the challenges of starting this business really just took patience and a willingness to learn. Nobody truly has it all figured out.
I’ve learned many lessons along the way, but I think the biggest one is to be humble and patient. There’s something to be learned from everyone and business results take time!
I’d like the world to know that if I can do it, anyone can! Starting your own business, although difficult, is definitely possible.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Food wise, I’d want to take them to: Toca Madera, Nobu, Clever Koi, Green New American Vegetarian, True Food Kitchen, Obon, and Kasai. Those are some of my absolute favorites!
For places to visit, I’d probably focus on spending time outdoors and hiking Camelback or Pinnacle Peak! Taking a drive up to Sedona or Flagstaff is also one of my favorite things to do.
A week filled with great food and spending time outdoors would be the ideal way to show a best friend what Phoenix is all about.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my family! Their support of my journey as an entrepreneur has been absolutely key to my success. It’s one thing to believe in yourself, but it’s amazing when you have your whole family believing in you as well.
