The idea: where or how did you come up with it?

Ideas aren’t everything, execution matters greatly, but starting often requires an idea and so we asked folks to think back and tell us the story of how they came up with the idea for their businesses. We’ve highlighted some of our favorite stories below.

I am passionate about health and understanding the human body. If you think about it, no one gives you a user manual on your own body… but it sure would help! From my experience working in the healthcare, fitness and even academic worlds, it always struck me that the average person either does not know the basic operating mechanisms of his or her own body, or has no curiosity about it. Patrick and I came up with the name of our business, The Brandon Caserta Foundation, because we wanted to honor our son, AE3 Brandon Caserta, and his legacy. He died by suicide in 2018 due to a toxic abusive Navy command climate of hazing, bullying, sexual assault, and retaliation. The way he died made a statement not only to his toxic command but to the entire Armed Forces. Brandon died by jumping into the spinning rear tailor rotor of a Navy MH-60S Sikorski helicopter on his Navy command’s flight line. Read more>>

I have always been a believer in plant medicine & natural remedies. When I was a teenager, I had a horrible reaction to an antibiotic that steered me away from ever wanting to take medication again. I avoided them at all costs. Over time I was reading more about plants & herbs, traditional eating habits based on your culture & how these foods can support your system.
