I do think it’s hard to choose only one, but respect would have to be number one. In my belief nearly all other values of importance can fall under this category. Integrity is also important to me, but if you are operating within the bounds of respect, then by default you will operate with integrity. I began teaching my son very, very early, that for me as a parent to him, I would be repeating the mantra of respect to him for as long as he was within earshot. Respect for others, respect for himself, respect for his surroundings, including the earth. If you apply this question to your path, “Am I being respectful?” This will always steer you in the right direction. This applies to your own well-being, as much as anything else, in my opinion. Empowering girls to dream, believe and achieve means so much to me because I overcame bullying and low self esteem and I think it is important to encourage others through sharing my experiences. I have been fortunate to have family, mentors and peers that supported my efforts to spearhead programs and social media campaigns over the past several years that promote the importance of leadership. Most recently, I created an app called DREAM BELIEVE ACHIEVE that pushes positive quotes out daily to spread kindness and inspire people to have hope that they can reach their goals. Read more>>

The principles of personal integrity and treating others how I want to be treated are most important to me. Integrity is “the quality of having strong ethical or moral principles and following them at all times, no matter who’s watching.” This is important to me because my faith is not only what I believe in, but how I live my life day to day. I want my audience and people I encounter to be able to see that though my actions and interactions. I want it to be felt through every exchange. Of the very rudimentary basis of all human interactions, is the second principle I strive to live my life by: “Treat others how you want to be treated.”. This principle is so basic but transcends time, religion, class and location. If I am ever unsure on myself or in doubt when making a decision about how to respond or react, I fall back to the basics. It has gotten me through hard times and emotional exchanges. I think life is a very precious thing and that each day we get is truly a blessing and something that we need to be grateful for. Some days are even better than others and those always seem to be the days that I’m surrounded by Music and my Friends.
