It’s easy to get caught up in the day to day, but it’s important to stop and ask: what’s the end goal? Knowing where you are trying to go is step one in getting there and so we’ve asked some folks we admire to tell us their end goal and where they want to be by the end of their careers.

Iyosi Pydas | Producer/Writer/Food Enthusiast

Creating music is one of the earliest passions that I’ve had that I can remember, but it isn’t my only one. By the end of my career? I’d hope to be living off of passive income while still writing/performing the music that my supporters and myself prefer. My music career seems like a gateway to other mediums of success that I’m interested in such as cryptocurrency, robotics, and the food industry. I feel that if I spend more time at home and less time at a traditional job, provided that my income can sustain it, my creativity and content would flow to a point of building a sustainable and suitable lifestyle. At this point, having $0 worth of debt, owning a reliable vehicle (no car note), and having a home to live in with little to no overhead is the dream. All I need is the home and I’m set. Joi Whitley | Tax Accountant and Consultant

I became a tax consultant to help people. As a growing teenager, I always wanted to be a teacher. When I grew older, I began to realize the public-school teachers did not earn as much money as I would have liked to earn. Math has always been my favorite subject, so taxes became a natural strength. I have a helping personality. Most importantly, the goal is to help people of color and other minority groups, such as women and the LGBTQ community. Minorities are affected by taxes because education about taxes is not there. My goal is to educate my communities. My career is more than filing taxes for me. My career consists of changing communities and changing financial situations. By the end of my career, I would like tax offices from coast to coast, stretching across all 50 states of the United States. Read more>>

DJ Walker | Filmmaker, Director, Writer, Editor

My hope and dream is to have had a successful run as a film director who got to tell the stories he wanted to tell. To be able to touch people with a visual story that made them think, feel, laugh, cry, but in the end be touched in some way. I think as a storyteller, that’s your main goal is to tell stories that you can dream up, but also impact people. I also would like to start my own production studio and be able to oversee or help other artists tell stories and live their dreams. Read more>>
