As a mom of three, a wife, an owner of multiple small businesses, work life balance has been by far my biggest challenge as a whole. I would much rather divide myself in two and conquer the world but one thing I’ve learned is slow and steady always wins the race. Read more>>

I am extremely passionate about healthy work-life balance especially after just quitting my 9-5 last month to create a healthy work life for myself. Before selling my soul to 9-5 sales I was working at a 3 job minimum not to just make ends meet but to enjoy a financially abundant life for myself and because I had multiple jobs I had the luxury of having some control over my 2 additional jobs and a set scheduled with the NBA (I was a professional NBA Dancer for the San Antonio Spurs for 3 years). I bet you can only imagine how set that schedule was. But as per usual I was extremely busy. So I assumed transitioning into another set lifestyle, 9-5, I thought I could handle that, piece of cake. False. I struggled immensely because something I realized was that it was trapping my creativity and this piggy backs on another question in this discussion, is why choose the creative route for a career?! Well when I realized it was hard trying to maintain my digital creator lifestyle i once had where all my creativity was being trapped by a cubicle for 8 hours a day and I found myself being burnt out trying to be creative after a long day of being told im not sh*t one cold call after another, I left me extremely unmotivated to do the thing I have loved and been doing for years. And it bring me be back to the main topic of balance. The 9-5 was killing my spirit and no matter how much money the financial security of the corporate life was giving me, it was killing my person and that was not a good balance for me! I don’t think doing or partaking in any job that you not only don’t enjoy but you can FEEL is killing your spirit and you find yourself returning home feeling drained and ungrateful it’s not going to be fulfilling and you’ll start to resent your life when there are SO MANY OTHER POSSIBILITIES to do something that you love and if there isn’t one CREATE ONE FOR YOURSELF and find a way to turn your passion into money because its not going to feel like “work”. It’s going to turn into something that you GET to do. You life starts to feel more enjoyable and balanced. When I had those 3 jobs I LOVED every single one of them. I was stretched thin, exhausted physically, but that was the absolute most happiest time of my life and work life because I had balance that I was in control of and I encourage everyone to do the same. Now, I still get up and work the same hours as my 9-5 but it valiant, ethical work that I enjoy, thats my work working for myself, and something that I have a passion in and that feeling is priceless. I believe the balance oscillates for sure. In the early stages of my career, I felt a burning need to stay in a hyper-focused mindset, which I discovered over time was not even close to sustainable. With age and experience, I learned how to achieve a near-complete work-life balance. It’s not always perfect, but it improves over time. Things like rest, mental health, and longevity are huge factors. Ultimately, burning out goes against the creative flow. Read more>>

I love working on expanding my business, bringing in clientele, and making money however it gets hard because of school. Some days I am very overwhelmed with the amount of school work I have. Starting freshman year, I had no clue how much I would have to study and stay on top of my work on a day-to-day basis. that has been the biggest change since starting. Now that I am more comfortable with school and working, I feel that the balance has become enjoyable because I know my limits. Read more>>
