Working hard or hardly working?

What’s the right balance between work and non-work time? The traditional 9-5 has slowly disappeared with the emails and zoom and texting going far beyond traditional business hours. We asked members of our community to share with us how they think about work-life balance.
My work life balance has changed twice in the past 6 years. Six years ago, I was working in corporate America in Los Angeles. I was working 9-10 hour days, commuting, paying people to raise my kids and had little energy or time to parent. Since Covid I’ve gained more of an appreciation for “the little things.” Taking moments throughout my normal work day made me appreciative for the opportunity to work from home & be around my family. Work life balance to me is one of the most important aspects of owning a business (or in any career in fact) to make a priority and put forth the effort to really make it happen. I know for me personally its so easy to just put my head down and work. I can still be bad about actually stopping working at a certain time of the day, setting boundaries with clients and associates I work with and I still struggle to “turn it off” at night. Read more>>
My wife and I sat together in our home in the woods and decided that after a while of trying for a family that we would stop putting pressure on ourselves. We decided to invest some money into the art business over the next year. I had hit my “aha” moment where my skill had finally reached a place that I had been striving for over ten years.
