Meet Tasha Roberts | CEO – Woman In The Trades

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tasha Roberts and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tasha, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Consistency. It may sound cliché, but consistency really is key. There are not too many people out there that will consistently wake up early and put in the hard work day after day.
I have been waking up at 4am for about 10 years now. Following a routine from the moment I wake up has definitely contributed to my success.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Well, my career and life has gone in a far different direction than I would have ever imagined. But things never go as you plan in life, right?
I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. I lived in a household of entrepreneurs. While I watched my parents work extremely hard to build their door business (ASAP Door Repair & Service, at the time) I was never interested in that. I had a love for business, finance, math (nerd, for sure).
After high school, I put myself in a bunch of student loan debt to earn some business degrees and went off into the corporate world! Working in trading operations for a major investment firm.
April 2016 is when everything changed for myself and my family.
My parents had been in a terrible motorcycle accident, leaving them both in the hospital for months.
At this time, I decided to walk away from my corporate job and step into the family business to ensure it did not close during this time. I had no idea the extent of my parents injuries and that it would still lead me to be in the business today.
In 2021, I officially acquired the company and became President & CEO. I started to implement some major changes and focus on growing the company, while remaining profitable.
Today – we have around 25 employees and opened a second location in the Carolinas. Within the next 3 years, I project we will be an 8 figure company!
Lessons I have learned along the way:
– Do not be afraid to have the hard conversations.
– Stay consistent.
– Your business is the size it is today (large or small) because of you.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I recently moved to the Lake Norman, North Carolina area! Here are some places that I love (so far): Lake Norman State Park – there are beaches, hiking and beautiful views!
Daveste Vineyards – a beautiful vineyard in Troutman, NC
On Tap – fun little tap house that is in downtown Mooresville, in an old bank building! Super cool place.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would shout out a coach that I hired for my commercial cleaning company, Mike Campion and his team of coaches. While I have since sold that company, that entire coaching experience really opened my eyes to coaching in general. Since 2020, when I took on that coaching, I have evolved myself and my businesses in more ways than I could have ever imagined. I learned to utilize the skills and advice from professionals across many industries. I have put myself into other coaching groups, seminars, conferences and have surrounded myself with successful people. I have read many books that I learn valuable lessons from as well.
The most important part is, however, implementation,
Anyone can attend a conference or read a book. Those who make decisions to make changes in their lives and businesses are the ones who grow.
