We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Hickey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I did not grow up thinking I was going to be a business owner nor did I think I was going to become a doctor. Two experiences completely changed the trajectory of my life. (1) Watching my Dad suffer from and die from lung cancer, and (2) watching myself suffer from and ultimately heal from chronic Lyme disease. Through suffering I found my purpose. I started my practice to help free people from pain, whether it is physical pain, emotional pain, and/or psychological pain.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a doctor now, but I was a patient first. I lived with Lyme disease for over a decade and suffered from constant pain, fatigue, anxiety, depression, brain fog, and much more during that time. Naturopathic Medicine and Pranic Healing turned my health and life around. I no longer have symptoms of Lyme disease and I’m healthier now than I have ever been before. I became a Naturopathic Doctor and Pranic Healer and started my business to help free others from the pain of chronic illness. I work with people to achieve the goals they want to achieve and empower them on their health journey so the results they receive are long-lasting and sustainable.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well if you’re traveling to Arizona you likely want to spend a good amount of time outside, unless its the summer of course! The area has so many great places to walk/hike including the Riparian Preserve, Camelback Mountain, Papago Park, and many many more. Golf courses are like Starbucks here, there is one on nearly every corner. There are many good ones to choose from like Ocotillo Golf Club and The Raven. Great food places include Flowerchild, Sushi San, and Clever Koi. If you’re looking for great beer, then try Walter Station Brewery where my husband, Will Stephens, is the head brewer.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would not be the person I am today and my practice would not exist without the support and guidance from many others. My family, my spiritual teacher Master Choa Kok Sui, my mentor and friend Dr. Rhonda Steinke, and many friends come to mind. Choosing just one is difficult, but I will dedicate this shout-out to my Dad, Ken Hickey. He is one of the main reasons why I switched career paths and became a doctor. I’m grateful for the time I had with him while he was alive and his memory will continue to guide me through my life.
