We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Nuñez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jordan, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
Currently, I am feeling heavily inspired by vintage art books as well as texture. Inspiration changes for me over time. I try to stay open to anything that catches my eye and allow myself the curiosity to pursue it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I work primarily in porcelain which is a creamy white color once fired. Lately I have been experimenting with staining my porcelain by hand to unique shades and have loved every moment of it. The joy of opening a kiln full of colored porcelain work is unparalleled!

I got to where I am in Good Mud largely by being consistent. This was not easy at first- I had to shift a lot of my perspective on what being consistent meant. Where I used to try and complete projects daily, to the point of exhaustion, I now strive for improving 1% every day. Growing slowly but consistently has been the key to my sustainable growth.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would love to take my best friend out to Sotisse for impeccable french cuisine one night, and to Espiritu for bold flavors and atmosphere the next. I would absolutely make it a point to share some of the places that make my home unique. Talesin West, The PHX Art Museum, as well as The Desert Botanical Garden would be must-sees. For a quick bite and shopping excursion, I would take them to Berdenas at The Frederick. Great coffee and neighbors to some of the best local small businesses in the valley.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband deserves the loudest of shoutouts for his unwavering love, support, and sheer joy. Good Mud would not be what it is without him. Thank you, Derek.
