Leap and the net will appear. -John Burroughs. I jump into my paintings like they are the water – holding my breath, but I’m all in. I always know that something will show up on the canvas that is authentic, energized and pure in spirit. This has been my approach to painting and my art business. When asked, I say yes. When an opportunity looks interesting I grab it. I learned a lesson early on that saying no leads to nothing. It’s that simple . Leaping or saying yes leads to other yes’s and endless possibilities. As a man thinketh, so is he. This quote seems so basic, but it is very straightforward. It is so easy to fall victim to the small limits that have externally influenced our minds. It is so important to be intentional about not only what we say, but we think as well. If you think you can, you can. If you think you can’t, you can’t. Read more>>

“The woods would be quiet if no bird sang but the one that sang best.” ― Henry van Dyke I grew up in a very small dairy farm community. When my family built a home there, the population was just 5,000. My bedroom, to me, was a princess’ lair. It was on the second floor of a brand new home, sitting on top of a hill, from which you could see half the town. Well, during the winter, anyway. And from my bedroom, I imagined the brush below to be my personal secret garden. “Knowledge is not power. Knowledge with action is power.” This quote is special to me. I can’t remember how I came across it, but I find it quite relatable. I am not the smartest person in the room and I have never been the smartest person in the room, but I can promise you I’m probably one of the hardest workers in the room. Read more>>

Our favorite affirmation is, “Only good things happen to us” When we first started our business, we wanted to celebrate every little win we could get. So when we stumbled upon good fortune or had a stroke of good luck, we would look at one another and say, “Only good things happen to us!” Since that beginning point, we have continued to say it frequently. It has shaped our mindset to be grateful for every good thing that comes our way and to focus on the positive outcomes of our business – never the negative possibilities that come with risk. The expression “Try try again” has always resonated with me. Any artistic pursuit involves a life of learning and experimentation. The creative voice is boundless, and when we are willing to test out new ideas, they often open even more avenues of expression. Playing with different techniques, tools, materials, or subject matter involves much trial and error until the artist’s vision can be realized. Taking those risks can produce wonderfully unexpected results that we may not have found without numerous attempts. Similar to “Happy accident”, there is a freedom in not holding on too tightly to our expectations of the outcome, and it certainly makes the process more exciting. This is why I believe it’s so important to “try, try again”, as much as possible. Read more>>
