We had the good fortune of connecting with Ally Dell’Amico and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ally, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking risks is the most important key to success. Without risk there is no room to advance, learn, improve, and grow. Too often we do not take risks out of fear of failure. We find ourselves stuck in our comfort zone, content with the way things are or afraid we might fall; not realizing life could be even better. Running a business has always piqued my interest and when the opportunity of opening a yoga studio presented itself, I was scared. That little voice in the back of my head kept popping up, “Will you have the time?… Will you have the capability?… What happens if this fails?…” Taking a risk is never easy but I was fortunate enough to recognize that my life was just comfortable and I decided to have the courage to take the risk and live out my dream. Risking failure is the only way to experience true growth. With the right attitude you can learn from it and thrive!
What should our readers know about your business?
At Saule Yoga, we strive to create a space where people come together through mindful movement to promote vibrancy, balance and harmony at the same time as establishing a sense of community and synergy where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. We practice yoga as individuals, each of us coming from a different background and starting point, but we support each other, creating an inner strength and peaceful energy that radiates through our bodies and community each and every day. We offer a variety of classes including vinyasas flows, power flows and yin/restorative styles. Specialty classes on our schedule include children’s yoga, yoga nidra, sound healing and wall yoga (one of the few studios in Arizona who offers a wall class).
With every business there are ebbs and flows of challenges. Learning to embrace the challenge while approaching the struggles with faith, humility and dedication are essential in overcoming and continuing to create a beautiful community for our students.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
To keep it local I would show them all the great places in Downtown Gilbert, including the Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings and Downtown Chandler, the cool atmosphere of Barnone and the Queen Creek Olive Mill. All of these places have great food, vendors and live music. Taking them on scenic hikes in places like South Mountain, Pinetop, Flagstaff, Payson, Sedona, and the Grand Canyon. Enjoying the great weather year-round is a must, maybe spending the day floating down the Salt River or visiting Saguaro Lake. But of course the trip would not be complete without bringing them to my favorite Mexican restaurants, Someburros and Isabel’s Amor.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh wow, I have so many incredible people in my life to thank for my success! First and foremost, my parents for raising me to always do what makes me happy. I can still hear their voices in the back of my head saying, “Try it. If you don’t like it, you can always try something else!” I simply would not be where I am today without their unconditional love and support.
Huge shoutout to the best business partners I could ask for, Julie and Tim Vasquez. Knowing them for most of my life, they are my second family and I owe so much to them both. As owner of Someburros Mexican Restaurant, Tim put his faith in me at a very young age to run the HR Department. Throughout the years he has helped me grow tremendously both personally and professionally. Julie has taught me how to see the good in all, and approach business from a loving, generous and all-inclusive standpoint.
My mentor, Kalina Converse – owner of Arizona Yoga Academy, for guiding me through this amazing journey and helping me discover my passion for serving and teaching others how to have the confidence to live authentically.
Another big thanks to those in my life who have taught me that taking risks is the only way to live life to the fullest.
And last but absolutely not least, I have to thank the wonderful students and teachers who make the Saule Community something truly special.
