We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Hetherington and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angela, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am originally from Freeport, Illinois. My fondest memories were formed growing up in the country with my little sister. We had several willow trees in our front and back yard along with flower gardens, a fruit orchard and a huge garden. My Dad made peach and Concord grape wine, so I used to help smash the grapes. He taught me Photography as soon as I was old enough to hold a camera. I was always coloring. Behind the garden there was a corn field backed by a wooded area where we used to hunt for Morel mushrooms. I can still smell the lilac bushes and visualize all the butterflies, dragonflies and fireflies they attracted. My family has always been very close and it was my Grandmother who convinced me as a child that fairies and knomes do really exist. They only visit if you do your chores though. She always made homemade birthday hats and Christmas ornaments for us. My Mom had Winnie the Pooh as my nursery theme with everything coordinated to match. Today, I delight in hosting fantasy themed family events that inspire children. It’s really important to enjoy being a kid, learn to relax and remember to have fun. The imagination is where all dreams are born.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have my BFA in Photography with a certification in Art Therapy from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. I’m happy to offer family mini portraits at our events for every holiday and season. It’s so affordable and brings the community together. It’s been challenging at times, for instance finding the right venues to hold our events where we have ample space. We are delighted to start the season with our first of many monthly festivals at Singh Meadows in Tempe. They have a farmers market, cafe and huge gardens with a picturesque pond for the perfect backdrop. We are so happy to support local small businesses and vendors now more than ever. We have an amazing team with face painting, pony rides, boutiques, entertainers and craft workshops that are over the top.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have a huge place in my heart for the Carefree/Cave Creek area. We live in North Phoenix. I recommend Bryan’s BBQ, Ofrenda, Janey’s, Blue Burger Grill, The Mule and El Encanto. A trip to Sedona is a must. Of course I’d invite them to join one of our events too. I honestly have the most fun with our team of vendors who are like family.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My entire Family and my husband, Todd, for all the support throughout the years.
Other: We also host local Bridal Fairs and have a separate social media page for that. @enchanteddreamproductionsaz
