We had the good fortune of connecting with Angelica Acosta and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angelica, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I am very firm believer that if you never take risks, you will not get anywhere in life and you will be reminiscing of what could have been. Ultimately starting my business when Covid was barely coming out, was the biggest risk I had to take. My lash course took place in November of 2019 and that same day, I told my manager I wasn’t going back to work. That risk took a big part into my career because from the second I decided I was all in, I never looked back. If it wasn’t for me making a decisive to leave my job that day, I probably wouldn’t be a Lash Artist today.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been in the Lash Industry for four years already and I believe what sets me apart from others is the fact that I care about building relationships with my clients. I have such a big heart and whenever one of my clients is having a rough day, I make sure to be that person they need in that moment. I don’t see my clients as a walking dollar sign. They are trusting me with their lashes so I want to make sure that I always give them my best. I am most proud of the fact that in my career, I have made it to already 6 magazines! It’s such a blessing to know that people want to hear my story. I also have a secret project coming in March that I am so excited about! I will be selling merch. I believe a lot of trial and error is what got me here today. It’s tough starting a business especially when you’re the first one in the family to do so. I had to do a lot of research just to figure out LLC, business credit cards, etc all the fun stuff. I overcame a lot of challenges with the help of God, husband and my family. One specific lesson I learned along the way is that there are clients for everyone. The right clientele will come to you. I want the world to know that when you put God in the center of your life, you have nothing to worry about. God gave me the talent to bless others with beautiful lashes.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This question is quite hard because I’m literally such a home body lol!! But I would say we would start off downtown to find a cute little shop since I’m addicted to coffee, I would definitely take her out for lunch at Hannys because their pepperoni honey pizza is bomb!! If there is a baseball game going on, then that’s definitely on the list of something to do. I would say first Friday is definitely something to check out. They have a variety of things to do, eat, see, etc.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My clients deserve this recognition! Without my clients, this business would not have been up and running for 4 years. They took a chance at me from the very start even though I had no idea what I was doing. They’ve seen my growth and believed in me. I am forever thankful for them.
