We had the good fortune of connecting with Anthony Osuna and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anthony, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process was mostly me wanting to be my own boss and build something of my own. I have worked plenty of jobs where my hours were long and my fulfillment was nonexistent. Eventually, I made sacrifices and started my own business selling my favorite dessert! It has definitely been an exciting, challenging process, but I focused on perfecting my craft so I could eventually sell my cheesecakes to the public and really put myself out there.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Getting to this point was definitely not a “cake walk”, it took a lot of time, research, and sacrifice to really figure it all out. I’ll tell you right now, I have failed and had to restart my cheesecakes more than I can count, but that is what made the journey that more special. The fact that I was able to make a mistake and stay motivated without giving up, really allowed me to get to know myself better. The process was long and required a lot of patience that I didn’t have before. I really had to allow myself to grow and develop these skills if this was the career I wanted. I decided that I loved making cheesecakes and I wanted to pursue my dream of becoming a business owner. I was willing to sacrifice sleep, time, or even going to hangout with friends, but hey, it’s what we sign up for when we really want something that bad. Soon enough, I learned to make a variety of flavors and my following started growing more every day. It’s my goal for my cheesecakes to reach as many people as possible, for them to enjoy! I alsoreally want everyone to know my journey that eventually allowed me to create this delicious piece of art that I call my own.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m honestly more of a homebody and I tend to dedicate most of my time making cheesecakes. However, I absolutely love sushi! On those days where I want to get out and unwind, my favorite spot to go to is Sakebomber Sushi and Grill in Tempe. They have the best sushi in Arizona, in my opinion, and it’s always a great spot for a date night with my wife. In fact, it is where we had one of our very first dates. If I were to go out though, I would definitely recommend downtown Phoenix. There a lots of fun speakeasy bars, museums, restaurants and comedy clubs.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would definitely love to give a shoutout to my amazing wife who has been there for me through it all. From the moment the idea came to mind, she was completely on board with it all. That woman has provided me more than enough support and encouragement since day one and she continues to keep doing it. I really can’t thank her enough. My friends and family have also provided me a great deal of support as well since the start of it all. It’s such a great feeling to know that I have a solid group of people that support me day in and day out throughout this journey. I just can’t thank any of them enough for it.
